Elizabeth Ringhausen
Christian and Appolonia (Mossbach) Ringhausen's daughter Elizabeth Ringhausen married Paul Friedel 4-18-1882 in St. Louis, MO. Paul and Elizabeth (Ringhausen) Friedel had 4 children-George Edward Friedel, Albert W. Friedel, Paul H. Friedel, and Appolonia Friedel.
(1) Paul and Elizabeth (Ringhausen) Friedel's son George Edward Friedel married Anna Kiem. George and Anna (Kiem) Friedel's son Aloys A. Friedel, died 06-28-1990. Aloys A. Friedel, 58, died June 28, at Jersey Community hospital. He retired in 1972 as a machinist at Owens Illinois Inc. of Alton and was a US Army veteran. Born in Hardin, he was the son of Anna (Kiem) Friedel of Wood River and the late George Friedel. He married Ceclia (Hazelwonder) Friedel December 31, 1952, in Michael and she survives.
Also surviving are 2 sons, Bill Friedel of Hamburg and Bob Friedel of Jerseyville; 5 daughters, Ruth Lacy, Mary Brown, Jeannie Lott and Bonnie Imming all of Jerseyville and Sandy Schafer of West Alton, Missouri; 1 niece whom he Raised, Lori Warner of Ft. Drum, New York; 17 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Rita Klass of Meppen and Sister Mary Gabriel of Normandy, Missouri; and 7 Brothers, Joe Friedel of Hardin, Pat and Gabe Friedel, Batchtown, Ed Friedel of Bethalton, George Friedel, Granite City, Brother Norbert Friedel of St. Louis and Charlie Friedel of Bushnell. Preceding him in death were 1 daughter, Margaret Ann Friedel; 1 sister, Ethel Lehr; and 1 brother, Paul Friedel.
(2) Paul and Elizabeth (Ringhausen) Friedel's son Albert W. Friedel married Mary Ann Baalman. Albert and Mary Ann (Baalman) Friedel's son -- Edmund P. Friedel, 84, died at 10:40 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at his home. A son of the late Albert W. and Mary Ann (Baalman) Friedel, he was born Nov. 1, 1916, in Hardin. The retired farmer and truck driver had also retired as a butcher for Pluesters Quality Meats. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Meppen and the Holy Name Society and was an honorary volunteer fireman. He and the former Florence F. Arnold were married May 15, 1946, in Brussels. She died Oct. 3, 1997.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Everett and Karen Friedel of Batchtown and Kenneth and Patty Friedel of Hardin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Ron Maag of Golden Eagle and Jean and Lee Tepen of Batchtown; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Vera Stumpf and Esther Friedel, both of Hardin. He was preceded in death by a brother, Norbert Friedel. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hanks-Gubser Funeral Home in Hardin with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Meppen. Father Tom Hagstrom and Father Jay Friedel officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery in Meppen. Memorials may be given to St. Joseph Church or cemetery.

Paul and Elizabeth (Ringhausen) Friedel's son Albert W. Friedel married Mary Ann Baalman. Albert and Mary Ann (Baalman) Friedel's daughter - Esther Leona Friedel, 79, died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis. Born Jan. 14, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Albert W. and Mary Ann Baalman Friedel. She grew up on the family farm in Calhoun County, Ill., with her parents, two brothers and a sister. She was an avid animal lover and provided a home for many wayward pets during her life. Before her retirement, she worked as a clerical person for Bach and Company in Hardin for many years. She will be sadly missed by the extended family of friends, acquaintances and coworkers she met and worked with in her lifetime. She never knew a stranger.
She is survived by a sister, Vera Friedel Stumpf, and her husband, Gerald; and a sister-in-law, Helen Zipprich Friedel, all of Hardin. She was a very loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, two brothers, Norbert J. and Edmund P., preceded her in death. There will be no funeral arrangements. It was her wish that her body be donated to science. A memorial Mass of remembrance will be celebrated at a later date. Donations may be made in her remembrance to Saint Norbert's School in Hardin.
(3) Paul and Elizabeth (Ringhausen) Friedel's son Paul H. Friedel married Eileen M. Arnold. Paul and Eileen (Arnold) Friedel's son - John L. Friedel, 69, died at 4:55 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2002, at his home. He was born July 2, 1933, in Golden Eagle to Paul H. and Eileen M. (Arnold) Friedel. He and the former Helen B. Brangenberg were married Aug. 25, 1956, in Kampsville. She survives. A retired construction superintendent, he was a member of Carpenters Union Local 73 in St. Louis. The U.S. Army veteran served during the Korean War and was a past president of the Florissant Athletic Association and was instrumental in getting lighted softball diamonds in Florissant. He was a former member of Sacred Heart Church in Florissant and a present member of St. Anselm's Catholic Church in Kampsville. He served on the senior citizens board in Hardin and was past president of both the Sacred Heart Parish Council and Holy Name Society. He had received the honor of being Sacred Heart Man of the Year.
In addition to his widow, surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dr. Vincent and Brenda Friedel of Perryville, Mo., and Father J. Friedel of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; a sister, Eva Stumpf of Bethalto; and four brothers, Delbert of Edwardsville, Ronald of St. Charles, Larry of Golden Eagle and Lee of Bethalto. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wayne Friedel. Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m. at St. Anselm's Catholic Church in Kampsville, where services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery in Brussels. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Catholic schools of Calhoun County or the North Calhoun Ambulance Service. Hanks-Gubser Funeral Home of Hardin is in charge of arrangements.
Katherine Ringhausen
Katherine Ringhausen lived in Calhoun County, IL. She married James Wesley Bland - his first wife was Susan Bunch, his second wife was Katherine "Katie" Ringhausen. James Wesley Bland was the son of Warren and Mary (Bunch) Bland. Warren Bland was married twice - first to Mary Penny, and second to Elizabeth Barnard. From that second marriage John Bland was born. He married Julia Peters. Their daughter was Wanda Ora Bland (went by Ora). She married Samuel Lockhart. All the marriages were in Calhoun County and Greene Counties, IL.

(1) James & Katherine (Ringhausen) Bland's son Howard Taft Bland is deceased. He married Anna E. Gansz 11-22-1928 in Kampsvile, IL. His wife - Anna E. (Gansz) Bland, 96, died at 8:10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at Hallmark House Nursing Center. She was born Nov. 16, 1909, in Kampsville to William and Rosie (Bliessner) Gansz. She married Howard T. Bland on Nov. 22, 1928, in Kampsville. He died July 30, 1994. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bethlehem Society and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Eva. B. and William Waldmeier of Pekin; one son, Roland Bland of Bethalto; three grandsons, Richard W. and his wife, Nancy,Waldmeier, Daniel Stephens and Richard Bland; two great-grandsons, Zachary T. and Joshua A. Waldmeier; and one brother, Carl Gansz of Carrolton. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by one son and one brother. Funeral services were held Thursday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pekin. Burial was at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 711 Court St., Pekin, IL 61554. Noel-Henderson Funeral Home in Pekin was in charge of the arrangements.
(2) James & Katherine (Ringhausen) Bland's son - John Delbert Bland, born 13-03-1910, Calhoun County, Illinois, died 31-03-1974, buried Oak Grove Cemetery. John Delbert Bland, 64, of Jerseyville, died March 31 at his home. A repairman at Laclede Steel company, Alton, he was born March 13, 1910 in Calhoun county a son of James & Catherine (Ringhausen) Bland. His survivors are his widow, Mrs. Sadie (Blackstone) Bland; 2 sons, Gary Bland of Godfrey and Roger Bruce Bland of St. Louis; 6 brothers, Albert and Walter of Eldred, Taft of Pekin, George and Lester of Kampsville and Ernest of Mosier; 2 sisters, Henrietta Gansz and Mrs. Carl Gansz, both of Kampsville; 2 grandchildren. Funeral rites were held Apr 3, from Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev R. E. George officiated with interment in Oak Grove cemetery.

John Delbert "Dee" Bland's wife Sadie Leota (Blackston) Bland's obituary - Sadie Leota Bland, 90, died at 4:05 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at Willow Rose Rehabilitaion Center in Jerseyville She was born Aug. 27, 1918, in Calhoun County to William and Martha (Tolbert) Blackston, who are deceased.� Her marriage to John Delbert "Dee" Bland took place Nov. 5, 1935, in Hardin. He died March 31, 1974. A homemaker, she was a member of the United Methodist Church in Jerseyville and TOPPS Club.
Survivors include two sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary and Elaine Bland of Alton and Bruce and Janet Bland of Jerseyville; grandchildren, Dennis Wayne Bland, Angelia Christina Kizer and Kevin Bland; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank, George, Arthur and James Blackston; seven sisters, Biby Clowers, Florence Booth, Charlotte Burge, Mary Wilson, Alice Hobbs, Minnie and Maude Blackston. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, at Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10. Pastor Mark Myers will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the acitivity department at Willow Rose Rehab Center in Jerseyville.
(3) James & Katherine (Ringhausen) Bland's son - Walter "Snooks" Bland, 93, died unexpectedly at his home early Monday morning, July 3, 2006. He was born on Aug. 8, 1912, in rural route Kampsville, the son of James and Katherine (Ringhausen) Bland. He married the former Irene Goewey on May 6, 1933, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 31, 2005. They resided in the Kampsville area until 1943 and then moved to a farm near Eldred. The couple lived there until 1994 when they moved to Carrollton. At the age of 18, Bland played for the minor league system of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team in Keokuk, Iowa, and because of homesickness for his family came back to Calhoun County and played baseball in the local area. He had a love of farming, hunting and playing cards. He loved spending time with his family and telling stories of his earlier years.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty Reif of Carrollton and Patsy and Larry Churchman of Carrollton; a son and daughter-in-law, Dean and JoAnn Bland of Eldred; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Debbie (Reif) and Roger Campbell, Robert and Cathy Reif, Rodney and Mary Reif, Darla (Reif) and Robert McPherson, Steven and Julie Bland, Kevin and Lisa Bland, Cindy (Bland) and John Adcock, Alan and Michelle Churchman, Kathy (Churchman) and Brian Schnettgoecke, Vicki (Churchman) and Randall Custer; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Lester "Jake" Bland and wife, Nola, of Kampsville. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a great-granddaughter; two sisters, Edna Gansz and Henrietta Gansz, five brothers, Albert, George, Howard "Taft," Delbert and Ernest "Spud" Bland; and two half brothers, William Ringhausen and Austin Bland. Walter Bland's wife - Irene (Goewey) Bland, 89, died at 10:55 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. Born in Belleview, Ill., on March 8, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Abram and Lettie Poore Goewey. On May 6, 1933, she married Walter "Snooks" Bland, who survives. They celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on May 6, 2005. They resided in the Kampsville area until 1943 and then moved to a farm near Eldred. They resided there until 1994, when they moved to Carrollton. She spent two years in Reisch Memorial Nursing Home. She was active in the Eldred Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She was the most loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother anyone could ask for. She had a great love for her family as well as for quilting, gardening and baking.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty Reif of Carrollton, Patsy and Larry Churchman of Carrollton; a son and a daughter-in-law, Dean and JoAnn Bland of Eldred; 10 grandchildren: Debbie (Reif) and Roger Campbell, Robert and Cathy Reif, Rodney and Mary Reif, Darla (Reif) and Robert McPherson, Steven and Julie Bland, Kevin and Lisa Bland, Cindy (Bland) and John Adcock, Alan and Michelle Churchman, Kathy (Churchman) and Brian Schnettgoecke, Vicki (Churchman) and Randall Custer; 21 great-grandchildren and a brother, Marion (wife, Velma) Goewey of Nebo.

(4) James & Katherine (Ringhausen) Bland's son - Ernest S. Bland, 87, died at 12:46 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at Calhoun Care Center in Hardin. Born March 30, 1918, in Kampsville, he was a son of James and Katherine (Ringhausen) Bland. His first wife, Minnie Hausman, preceded him in death. He later married Mary Barnes and then Ethel Gibson, and both preceded him in death. The World War II Army veteran retired as a livestock farmer and was a member of the Eldred American Legion Post.
Survivors include four sons, Stanley M. Bland of Meadowbrook, Earl Bland of Bowen, Ill., Rocky Bland of Pittsfield and Mike Bell of Springfield, Ill.; five daughters, Marcella Becker of Kampsville, Sally VanWinsen of Branson, Mo., Nancy Angel of Carrollton, Edith Bowman of Jerseyville and Carol Hartsock of Carlinville; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Lester "Jake" Bland of Kampsville and Walter "Snooks" Bland of Carrollton. Besides his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ernest Stanley Bland; two sisters, Edna and Henrietta Gansz; four brothers, Albert, Taft, John D. and George Bland; and two half brothers, William Ringhausen and Austin Bland. (5) James & Katherine (Ringhausen) Bland's son George L. Bland's wife Edith L. (Steinberg) Bland's obituary - Edith L. Bland, 97, died at 6:45 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2008, at Calhoun Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hardin. She was born Feb. 12, 1911, in Belleview, Ill., the daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Sevier) Steinberg. She married George L. Bland on May 23, 1931. He died in 1996. She was a homemaker and a member of the Summit Grove Presbyterian Church in Kampsville and the Red Hat Ladies.
Surviving are five sons, Leroy Bland of Brighton, George Bland of Cottage Hills, Henry Bland of Brighton, Jerry Bland of Kampsville and Danny Bland of Cottage Hills; three daughters, Martha Narup of Kampsville, Maxine Barton of Pleasant Hill and Shirley Tolar of Reed Springs, Mo.; 27 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Bland, two brothers and six sisters. At her request, the body was donated to Washington University in St. Louis. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Hardin Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Paul D. Frazier will officiate. Burial will be at Summit Grove Cemetery in Kampsville. Hanks-Gress Funeral Home in Hardin is in charge of arrangements.
(6) James and Katherine (Ringhausen) Bland's son Lester P. "Jake" Bland's obituary - Lester P. "Jake" Bland, 93, died at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at Calhoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hardin. He was born Sept. 5, 1915, in Kampsville, son of James and Katherine (Ringhausen) Bland. His marriage to the former Nola A. Dickerson took place June 21, 1969, in Kampsville. She survives. He was a retired feeder pig dealer.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, August James Bland and wife, Janice, of Hardin, Pete Bland and wife, Mary Ann, of Meadowbrook, and David W. Parker and wife, Dawn, of Edwardsville; six daughters, Mary Proud and husband, Jim, of Virginia, Frances Hall and husband, Barnie, of Kampsville, Arleen Rushing and husband, Don, of Kampsville, Barb Romain and husband, Scott, of Meadowbrook, Cindy Thurm and husband, Mark, of Medora and Jackie Reynolds and husband, Mitch, of Kampsville; 28 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Hanks-Gress Funeral Home in Hardin. Pastor Jason Barnes will officiate at services at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Silver Creek Cemetery in Kampsville. Opalona "Oppie" Ringhausen
Opalona "Oppie" Ringhausen lived in Calhoun County, IL. She married Roy K. Whisman. Roy K. and Opalona "Oppie" (Ringhausen) Whisman had 8 children-William "Bill" Whisman, Vera Valerie Whisman, Ruth Whisman, Ruby Devota "Dee" Whisman, Verna Whisman, Eugene Whisman, Clay Whisman, and Elza Whisman.
(1) Roy K. and Opalona "Oppie" (Ringhausen) Whisman's son - William "Bill" Whisman, 75, died at 11:10 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2003, in Kampsville after a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 18, 1927, in Kampsville to Roy and Oppie (Ringhausen) Whisman. He married the former Valeria F. Vaughn on Sept. 3, 1949, in Pittsfield. She survives. A farmer in the Bee Creek area for many years, he was also a crane operator at the Illinois Power plant at Pearl for 10 years and was later employed with construction and several road projects in central Illinois. He and his wife also drove a semi-tractor trailer cross-country for eight years.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son and daughter-in-law, Roger D. and Tara Whisman of Great Falls, Mont.; a daughter and her husband, Shelby and Roy Magner of Springfield, Ill.; four grandchildren, Jeremy, Robin, Jennifer Whisman and Jordon Magner; and three sisters, Vera Steinberg, Ruth Thomas and Dee Riggenbach. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Verna Gholson; and three brothers, Eugene, Clay and Elza Whisman. Visitation was from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Monday at Hanks-Gubser Funeral Home in Hardin. Rev. David Gould officiated. Burial was at Green Pond Cemetery in Pearl. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
(2) Roy K. and Opalona "Oppie" (Ringhausen) Whisman's daughter - Vera Valerie (Whisman) Steinberg, 88, died at 2:35 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at Pleasant Hill Nursing Center. Loving family and nurses were with her. She was born May 29, 1915, to Roy and Oppie (Ringhausen) Whisman at the Ringhausen-Whisman farm home in "Drag-Out" Hollow north of Kampsville. She married the love of her life, Casper Steinberg, on Sept. 9, 1931, in Hardin. He survives. The young newlyweds, ages 16 and 19, lived with his parents, Henry and Lizzie Steinberg, for three years. He worked on the farm and orchard and she was a house maid. In September 1934, they moved to a three-room house across the creek, where they lived frugally, worked extremely hard and lovingly raised their three children.
An exceptionally busy, organized and friendly lady, she always had time to drop everything and give a helping hand. She worked on the farm alongside her husband. Often, while he did other chores, she would spend a typical day working alone, plowing or discing, caring for livestock, garden and yard work, repairing or fixing something, often butchering a hog and processing the meat. She could still find time to bake a couple of pies and fix a delicious supper for their friends they had invited to spend the evening playing cards until midnight. In April 2000, after her husband's failing health and having enjoyed 16 winters in Yuma, Ariz., they moved from the farm to her dream home in Pleasant Hill. She had severe injuries after a fall in April 2003 and they willingly went to the Pleasant Hill Nursing Center later that month where their son, Tony, is a resident. She was a wonderful, loving person to her family and friends.
Besides her husband, surviving are her children, Tony, whose wife, Virginia (Sutton), died in 1997; Betty Wendt and her husband, Ronald, of Mozier and Taylor Steinberg and his wife, Lorraine (McDonald), of Quincy; grandchildren and spouses, Jody (Wendt) and Jim Yaeger of Mount Airy, N.C., Tobi (Steinberg) and Arnout Sellekaerts of Beddington, England, and Tad and April (Sinclair) Steinberg of Crowley, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Lesley Yaeger of Charlotte, N.C., and Ron Yaeger of Greenville, N.C.; two sisters, Ruth Thomas of Hamburg and Dee Riggenbach of Venice, Fla.; and three sisters-in-law, Rosanna and Valeria Whisman and Edith (Steinberg) Bland, all of Kampsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Eugene, (1926), Clay (1978), Elza (1997) and Bill (July 2003); and her twin sister, Verna (Dufur) Gholson (April 2003). She requested her body be cremated. Memorial services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Summit Grove Cemetery, west of Kampsville, and her ashes were buried at the family plot. The family suggests memorials to the Pleasant Hill Ambulance Service or North Calhoun Ambulance Service in care of Ward-Lummis Funeral Home, P.O. Box 247, Pleasant Hill, IL 62366.
(3) Roy K. and Opalona "Oppie" (RinghausenP Whisman's daughter - Ruby Devota "Dee" (Whisman) Riggenbach, 83, former area resident, died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at a Sarasota, Fla., hospital after a lengthy illness. Born north of Kampsville on Aug. 17, 1920, she was the daughter of Roy K. and Opalona "Oppie" Ringhausen Whisman. She attended Pleasant Dale Grade School in Silver Creek Hollow, then the two-year high school in Kampsville. She graduated from Milton High School in 1939. She married Morland "P.C." Oden on July 3, 1941, in Tuscombia, Mo. He died June 15, 1948.
She married Edgar L. "Whytie" Whyte on Dec. 5, 1952, in Hartford. She enjoyed being a mother to his then 15-year-old daughter, Judy, and was so proud to become a grandmother and great-grandmother in later years. He died on April 21, 1987, in Venice, Fla., which had been their retirement home since January 1977. She retired from Olin Corp. in East Alton after working there 22 years in the accounting department. She had previously worked as an operator for Bell Telephone Co. and a receptionist/switchboard operator for Carter Brothers Ford in Alton for several years. She married Clarence Riggenbach on May 3, 1988, in Venice, Fla. He survives. She was blessed to have the love and care of her husband, his nearby family, their church and many close friends during her illness.
She was an especially happy, vibrant, caring lady with a terrific smile. She loved living in Florida, but her family and memories of her birthplace in Calhoun County remained close to her heart. She enjoyed life, lots of hobbies, church activities, traveling, quilting, living in their beautiful home and caring for others. In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughter, Judith G. "Judy" Whyte Cooper, and a grandson, Eric Lee, and his wife, Esther, Cooper, all of Tucson, Ariz.; a granddaughter, Kyla Raye and her husband, Kerry, and their son, Raseo Bruce Knapp, of Flagstaff, Ariz.; a sister, Ruth Whisman Thomas of rural Hamburg; and three sisters-in-law, Rosanna and Valeria Whisman of Kampsville and Valera "Val" Whyte of Godfrey.
Besides her first two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Clay and Elza and his wife, Mary Margaret, Carl Eugene and Bill Whisman; twin sisters and their husbands, Verna Dufur and Bill Gholson and Vera and Casper Steinberg; and a brother-in-law, Edward Thomas. Siblings of P.C. Oden and Edgar Whyte who preceded her in death were, Charlotte "Lottie" Oden and her husband, Louis "Short," Clendenny, Loren and his wife, Pauline, Oden, Frances Whyte, Stewart Whyte and Russell and his wife, Mary, Whyte. At her request, her body was cremated. A graveside memorial service was conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Summit Grove Cemetery, west of Kampsville. Memorials may be made to Church of Christ of Venice, 4301 State Road 776, Venice, FL 34293; Summit Grove Cemetery, care of Bank of Kampsville, P.O. Box 245, Kampsville, IL 62053 or a charity of one's choice. National Cremation in Venice, Fla., was in charge of arrangements.
(4) Roy K. and Opalona "Oppie" (RinghausenP Whisman's son Clay Whisman was born in Calhoun County, IL. He died in 1978. He married Rosanna C. Hausmann 1-7-1946 in Kampsville, IL. His wife - Rosanna C. (Hausmann) Whisman, 84, died at 3:55 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at her residence. A daughter of Peter William and Katherine Mary (Mest) Hausmann, she was born on Dec. 29, 1920, in Kampsville. She married Clay Whisman on Jan. 7, 1946, in Kampsville. He died January 1978. A homemaker, she also worked at Olin Corporation for more than 25 years in the shot shell department until 55 years of age, retiring to take care of her husband. She was a member of St. Anselm's Catholic Church and its Altar Society in Kampsville.
Surviving is a sister, Lorraine Couch, of East Alton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Ross, William, Louis, and Elba Hausmann and two infants, Walter and Robert Hausmann; and five sisters, Nola Crays, Hallie Rapp, Minnie Vetter, Florence Hausmann and an infant, Marie Hausmann. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hanks-Gubser Funeral Home in Hardin with a rosary recitation at 4 p.m. Father Bill Kessler officiated at funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Anselm's Catholic Church in Kampsville. Burial was at St. Anselm's Cemetery in Kampsville. Memorials may be made to Masses, Greene County Blessing Hospice or St. Anselm's Cemetery.

Pruitts were the oldest residents of Fidelity neighborhood. Both 92 years old and had never been separated during 71 years of wedded life. She was born in Virginia and when six years old came with parents to Greene County. Then to Jersey County. Lived in Fidelity 45 years. She had never been seriously ill until seven days before her death. Celebrated golden wedding 22 years ago. Parents of nine children, three of whom survive; Mrs. Frank Walters of Alton, Mrs. Thomas Moran of Fidelity and Mrs. Frank Weiss of Alton. Mrs. Gorham of Jerseyville, Mrs. Heck Bell of Fidelity and Mrs. Samuel Riggs of Morrisonville are sisters. Mrs. Hattie Woodruff, Mrs. Wm. He was a member of the first county commissioners court of Jersey county, elected in 1839. He married Elizabeth "Eliza" Wyatt 3-15-1827 in Carrollton, Greene Co., IL. He was a member of the first county commissioners court of Jersey county, elected in 1839. He died from the result of injuries caused by a horse in 1865. He was an active man, and was quite successful.********Amos Pruitt was a son of Major James Pruitt, and he in the fall of 1832 disposed of the eighty acres he had entered here to Milo Bennett, and located in Hawkins' Prairie northwest of where the town of Fidelity is now located. He was one of the three men who composed the first board of county commissioners, after the separation of Jersey County from Greene County. He died from the result of an injury caused by a horse in 1865.********James Pruitt located on section 24, English township in 1824. He bought the improvement of John Thornton. He sold out to James T. Post in 1834, and removed to a place on Phill's creek, in Fidelity township, where he resided until his death. He was the father of Amos and another son, who went to Arkansas.********Mrs. Mary Ruyle, widow of Thomas B. Ruyle, is a daughter of Amos and Eliza Pruitt, and was born three miles north of Carrollton, in Greene county, Ill. She was married, February 2, 1843. Her husband, Thomas B. Ruyle, was born near Nashville, Tenn., Feb. 18, 1820. When he was seven years old, his parents moved to Morgan county, Ill., and in 1833 to Jersey county. Mr. and Mrs. Ruyle settled, after their marriage, on section 28, in Ruyle township, and continued to reside there until 1858, when they moved to section 15. Mr. Ruyle died Aug. 28, 1880, and was laid to rest in Delaware cemetery, near Kemper, Jersey county. Mrs. Ruyle now resides on section 15. She is the owner of a large farm, comprising 240 acres, on that section; also 40 acres on section 10, and 180 acres in Greene county. Mr. and Mrs. Ruyle had twelve children born to them: Amos L., who lives on section 15; Charles, living in Beatrice, Nebraska; Lucinda Jane, wife of Hiram Wright, living near Rockbridge, in Greene county; Eliza E., wife of Charles Ketcham, of Lincoln county, Kansas; Mary, wife of B. C. Elliott, of Kemper, Jersey county; Celia, who is now living at home with her mother; Thomas B., George W. and Annie, also living at home. Henry is deceased; also two children unnamed, who died in their infancy. Mrs. Ruyle is a member of the Baptist church at Kemper. Her deceased husband also belonged to that church. He held the offices of road supervisor and school director in this township, and was a useful and hight esteemed citizen. His death was deeply felt, not only by his friends, but by the entire community. Mrs. Ruyle's sons, Thomas B. and George W., reside with their mother and manage the farm successfully. They carry on general farming.)

Ruyle of the County Board of Supervisors, died at her home near Kemper, Wednesday January 17, 1906. She was the widow of Thomas B. Ruyle. She was the daughter of Amos & Eliza pruitt, and was born 3 miles north of Carrollton, in Green County, February 13, 1828. Thomas was a native of Tennessee and came to Morgan County Illinois when 7 years old, he moved to Jersey County in 1832. Mary and Thomas settled, after their marriage, in Ruyle Township where they lived the rest of their lives. They were the parents of 12 children: Amos L, Charles, Deceased, Lucinda J, Eliza E, Mary, Celia, Thomas B, George W, Henry, deceased, Annie and 2 sons who died in infancy.
They were of that class of early influential settlers whose persistent patience, true sturdy manhood and womanhood and fruitful and substantial citizenship have contributed generously to the progressive development of Jersey County and Ruyle Township. The demise of Thomas B. Ruyle Sr. was keenly felt as is the death now of Mrs. Ruyle, by the entire community. A faithful wife, a good mother, a true highly esteemed citizen and a charitable and loyal Christian, has ended her life work and passed over the river while her loved ones mourn her going. She leaves to mourn their loss 8 children, 22 grandchildren, 18 g-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. All her children were at her bedside at the time of death. Mrs. Ruyle was familiarly known as "Grandma Ruyle" and had been a member of Kemper Baptist church ever since it was organized in 1876. "Grandma" in her has sickness said: "I am prepared and ready to go and meet those who have gone before." Funeral services conducted by Rev. Wm. Gaither, were held at Kemper Baptist church. Interment was in Delaware cemetery.

They had three children-Charles Williamson, Albert Williamson, and Robert Williamson. In 1882 she married George Pruitt and moved to Grafton, and she and George Pruitt had one son Ernest O. Pruitt. She died 2-5-1912 at St. Joseph's hospital in Alton, IL. George W. Pruitt and his 1st wife Melvina Bradshaw had these children-Johnson Pruitt, Jonas Pruitt, Katherine Pruitt, Ella Pruitt, and Emma Pruitt.

Spruce St., Jerseyville were held this morning, 22 December at Gubser Funeral Home with Father William Hembrow officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. He died unexpectedly at 8:21 pm 19 December at Jersey Community Hospital where he had been admitted that morning. Pruitt was retired from the maintenance department at Union Electric in Alton. He was born in Jersey County 9 January 1925 a son of Ernest and Mabel Green Pruitt. Surviving him are his widow, the Former Mary Vancil, whom he married 24 April 1942; two sons, Jerry L. Pruitt of Jerseyville and David E. Pruitt of Carrollton; three daughters, Mrs. Fred (Sandra) Freand Jr., and Patty L. Pruitt, Jerseyville and Mrs. Paula S. Bridges, Carrollton. Born 17 July 1943, in Carrollton, he was the son of Mary (Vancil) Pruitt of Jerseyville and the late Otis Marion Pruitt. He was employed as a crane operator for 30 years at Laclede Steel Co in Alton and was a member of Jerseyville Moose Lodge 695. On 14 Nov, 1959, in Jerseyville, he married the former Patsy Slaten, and she survives. Also surviving are four sons, Gary Lee, Jerry Lee, Jr., Barry Allen and Larry Eugene Pruitt, all of Jerseyville; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Sandra Kay Freand of Jerseyville, Paula Sue Edwards of Higbee, Missouri, and Patsy Lynn Cummings of Delhi; and a brother, David Eugene Pruitt of Jerseyville. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Allen Pruitt. Visitation is from 4 to 8 pm Thursday at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services are at 10 am Friday. The Rev. William H. Hembrow will officiate. Burial is in Oak Grove cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
