Her death occurred on June 3 at Alton Memorial hospital. Rev. James Boyer of Kane will officiate and interment will be in Kane cemetery. She was born November 18, 1897 in Carrollton, a daughter of Theodore Hunt & Mary Combrink. She was employed as an inker at the former International Shoe Company in Jerseyville. Mrs. Young was a member of First Christian church, Women's Relief Corps and Senior Citizens. Her survivors are 3 Son, Theodore H. Young of Rosewood Heights, Robert S. Young of Jerseyville and Richard W. Young of Brighton; 2 daughters, Mrs. John (Eldora) Stiles and Mrs. Lamar (Eura) Weaver of Jerseyville; 15 grandchildren; 2 g-grandchildren; her sisters, Mrs. Stella Young of Carrollton and Mrs. Tippie Emmons of Nashville; and 1 half-sister, Mrs. Nellie Felter of Jerseyville. Her husband, Peter R. Young, and parents preceded her in death. Visitation was held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

Young's wife Stella May (Hunt) Young's sister Grace Eldora (Hunt) Young's son Richard William "Dick" Young's obituary - Richard William "Dick" Young, 80, died at 11:25 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2010, at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Ariz. He was born March 8, 1930, in Kane, the son of Grace and Peter R. Young. He married the former L. Thomasina Powell on March 18, 1952, in Carrollton, and raised a family. Later he married the former Linda Handling on June 22, 1984, in Alton. She survives. The U.S. Air Force veteran retired from Owens-Illinois Mold Manufacturing in Alton. He was a great lover of being outdoors and enjoyed traveling. In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Richard (Chip) Young Jr. of New Market, Ala.; three daughters, Sally Stevens of Jerseyville, Susan Sehr of Delhi and Brenda Montgomery of Fieldon; a stepson, Shane Simpson of Mesa; two sisters, Eldora Stiles and Eura Mae Weaver, both of Jerseyville; and two brothers, Theodore Young of East Alton and Robert Young of Jerseyville. Per his request, the body was cremated with no visitation or funeral services. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date at Mount Gilead Cemetery in Carrollton. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Born in Greene County Jan. 16, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Stella May (Hunt) Young. Surviving are a son Clifford G. Kraushaar of Otterville; seven granchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Elknah Mowrey of Dutzow, MO., Ada Hartwick of Carrollton, Lola Ethel of Athens and Betty Birch of Jerseyville; and three brothers, Phillip T. Young of Carrollton, Allen T. Young of Jerseyville and Harold Young of Rockbridge. A sister Dorothy Garahan preceded her in death. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Jacoby-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Larry Hayes will officiate. Burial is in Kane Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God Church of Jerseyvile, where she was a member.

Evelyn (Young) Kraushaar's husband Raymond Charles Kraushaar's obituary - Final services for Raymond Charles kraushaar, 68, of 1008 Warren St., Jerseyville were held Nov. 17, 1975 at Jacoby Funeral Home with the Rev. Dorcie Hill officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery. His death occured at 8:15 a.m. on Nov. 15 at the Jersey Community Hospital. A retired truck driver, he was born Nov. 22, 1906 in Fieldon, a son of Charles and Caroline (Haushalter) Kraushaar. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge. His survivors are his widow, Mrs. Mildred (Adams) Kraushaar; two sons, Clifford and Victor of Jerseyville; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Lovie Westfall of Pearl and Lizzie Horn of Waverly, Iowa. His parents and one sister preceded him in death. The family designated the Heart Fund as a memorial.

(1aa) Clifford and Marilyn (Baker) Kraushaar's daughter Kimberley (Kraushaar) Dixon's husband Melvin Lee Dixon's obituary - Melvin Lee Dixon, 66, died suddenly at 6:21 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at the scene of an automobile accident just north of Otterville on Otterville Road. He was born on Oct. 28, 1944, in Calhoun County, one of four children born to Milo and Zoe (Pegram) Dixon. Melvin graduated in 1964 from Calhoun High School in Hardin, and held various jobs in the local factories before accepting employment with the City of Jerseyville, where he served with the police department for 16 years. He then began over the road truck driving, and was currently employed as a driver and hauler for A&F Trucking in Jerseyville. Melvin served several terms on the Otterville Town Board and was a member of the Jerseyville Elks Lodge, National Rifle Association, and enjoyed restoring cars and riding Harley Davidsons. He married the former Kimberley Kraushaar on Nov. 3, 1981, in Alton, and they soon were to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary.
In addition to his wife, surviving are four children and their spouses, Steve and Julia Dixon of Fieldon, Sandra and Robert Lenington of Goodfield, Pamela Sue Dixon of Niagra Falls, N.Y., and Nathan and Melissa Lueker of Andalusia, Ill.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Karrick of Jerseyville and Mary Lou Briggs of Virginia state; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clifford and Marilyn Kraushaar of Otterville. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Stephanie Frank; a brother, Milton Dixon; and a brother-in-law, Clyde Briggs. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24. The Rev. John Gibson of the Eastland Baptist Church in Jerseyville will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Noble Cemetery in Otterville. Memorials may be given to the family in care of the funeral home.

Driver found dead after crash, possible medical cause - September 21, 2011 4:07 PM STAFF REPORT - The Telegraph - OTTERVILLE - Police are looking at a potential medical cause in the death of a man involved in a single-vehicle rollover crash early Wednesday morning. The driver was identified as Melvin L. Dixon, 66, of Otterville. He was pronounced dead at 6:21 a.m. "The death does not appear to be caused by the crash itself, because it was such a low-speed crash," said Master Trooper Doug Francis of Illinois State Police District 18 in Litchfield. The investigation will continue to determine whether injuries contributed to the death, he said. The 2000 Jeep Cherokee overturned onto its side after going out of control, he said. The incident likely occurred several minutes before it was reported to authorities. The QEM Fire Protection District was dispatched about 6 a.m. to Otterville Road, about one-half-mile north of Otterville (just south of Dabbs Road). A coroner's official said he was paged out by the Jersey County Sheriff's Department about 5:50 a.m. Later, he was told by the victim's wife that Dixon had left his home, which is a short distance from the scene, about 5 a.m. A deputy said extrication was required. The victim was not wearing his seat belt, police said. Evidence showed the vehicle left the road to the east and went into a ditch, traveling for approximately 120 feet. It then struck an embankment and turned over onto its roof. Dixon was pronounced dead at the scene by a coroner's deputy. The victim suffered head and chest trauma, the coroner's official said. Some of the basic questions in the case may never be answered. No autopsy was performed and no inquest is likely, according to the Coroner's Office.

Mr. Chevalley, 53, died December 30, 2011 at his home. He was born December 10, 1958 in Alton, the son of the late Robert and Imogene (Logan) Chevalley. He married the former Evelyn Kraushaar in 1979. He was raised in Chautauqua and was a 1977 graduate of Jersey Community High School. He was a machinist by trade and had worked at Al-Co in St. Louis and Puhlmann Manufacturing in Chesterfield, Missouri and has been employed at Olin Corp. for the last 12 years. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Michelle (Mark) Heitzman of Otterville; three granddaughters; several extended family and friends. At his request, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

She was born in Alton on Jan. 8, 1981, the youngest of two daughters born to Lawrence and Evelyn (Kraushaar) Chevalley. Jessica attended Jersey Community High School and graduated with the class of 1999, where she obtained academic honors. She worked for a short time at Dawn's In Town Grooming in Jerseyville, but for the most part, she enjoyed staying at home listening to music on her iPod, reading or being on her computer. Jessica was very loved and was a wonderful daughter, sister and was a very proud and doting aunt to her three nieces. She enjoyed her life, as her entire life was spent surrounded by those that loved her most and loved her dearly.
Surviving are her parents, Larry and Evelyn Chevalley of Otterville; a sister and brother-in-law, Michelle and Mark Heitzman Jr. of Otterville; three nieces, Brittany, Autumn and Stephanie Heitzman; her grandparents, Clifford and Marilyn Kraushaar of Otterville, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert and Imogene Chevalley. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18. Kraushaar, and Vickie Kraushaar. Victor and Janet (Prough) Kraushaar's daughter Nancy J. Kraushaar married Carl Wayne Clifford, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Milburn Clifford of Carrollton, IL. Carl Wayne Clifford and Nancy J. (Kraushaar) Clifford have 3 children, David Clifford, Jeremy Clifford, and Dylan Clifford. Victor and Janet (Prough) Kraushaar's daughter Vickie Kraushaar married Ty Johnson of Jerseyville, IL and they have a son Tyler Johnson. (4) Philip J. and Stella May (Hunt) Young's daughter Ada Frances (Young) Hartwick's obituary - Ada Frances (Young) Hartwick, 95, formerly of Carrollton, died at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at the home of her daughter. Born in Jersey County June 20, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Philip J. and Stella M. (Hunt) Young. She was married to Clement K. Hartwick on April 12, 1936, in Jalappa. He died Oct. 3, 1982, after 46 years of marriage. After her marriage, she lived eight years in Kane Township, then moved to a farm on the southeast edge of Carrollton in 1944. The couple lived there until he retired and then moved to Carrollton until his death. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Carrollton and enjoyed attending church and singing hymns with the congregation.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Wayne Sibley; five grandchildren, Doug E. Hartwick, Debbie Schmidt, Dan Sibley, Molly Sibley and Maria Sibley Pembrook; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty K. Burch of New Delhi and Lola L. Ethell of Athens; and two brothers, Philip T. Young of Jerseyville and Harold K. Young of Greenfield. Her husband was previously married to Leta Jackson, who died in 1932. They had three children, Francis E. Hartwick, Doris Hartwick Weber and Virginia F. Hartwick Weber. There are several step-grandchildren from that marriage. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Paul Hartwick; a grandson, Donald Paul Hartwick; two stepgrandsons, Roger D. and David G. Weber; three sisters, Evelyn Young Kraushaar, Elknah Young Mowery and Dorothy Young Garrahan; and a brother, Allen E. Young. Philip T. Young's obituary - Philip T. "Boone" Young, 91, formerly of Carrollton, died on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at Willow Rose Care Center in Jerseyville. Born in Rockbridge on April 17, 1920, he was the son of the late Philip J. and Stella M. (Hunt) Young. He was the oldest son and fifth child of his parents. He spent most of his life on the farm where he was born. He attended eight years of grade school at Mount Pleasant School in Greene County. As a teenager he enjoyed playing baseball and was an avid hunter and trapper. He went on to farm the same farm, where he was born, for many years until it was sold after his mother's death. He also worked as a carpenter during his adult life, moving to Carrollton after his mother passed. He was married to Julia Campion for a few years. They later divorced and she preceded him in death. Surviving are two sisters, Lola (Bill) Ethell of Athens and Betty K. Burch of Jerseyville; two sisters-in-law, Suzanne Young of Carlinville and Barbara Young of Jerseyville; and nephews and nieces. Besides his parents and former wife, he is preceded in death by four sisters: Evelyn Kraushaar, Elknah Mowery, Ada Hartwick and Dorothy Garrahan; two brothers, Allen and Harold Young; and three brothers-in-law, Marlin Mowery, Clement Hartwick and Delbert Burch. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8. Burial will be at Kane Cemetery. He was born Aug. 20, 1926, in Carrollton to Philip and Stella Mae Hunt Young. He married Barbara Lee Rathgeber May 29, 1949. She survives. Also surviving is one son, Kenneth (Penny) of Riverton and Karen (Andy) Daum of Rockbridge; three grandchildren, Krista (Travis) Johnson of Williamsville and Jennifer and Julie Daum of Rockbridge; two great-grandchildren, Tucker and Kooper Johnson; a brother, Philip Young of Jerseyville; and two sisters, Lola (Bill) Ethell of Athens and Betty Burch of New Delhi, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Elknah Mowrey, Ada Hartwick, Evelyln Kraushaar and Dorothy Garrahan; and one brother, Allen Young. Mr. Young served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a lifelong farmer and was a substitute letter carrier in Rockbridge and Greenfield. He was a member of the American Legion Fitzsimmons Post 225, Rockbridge United Methodist Church and served as a Rockbridge Township trustee and ASCS committeemen. He was also a CB radio enthusiast. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct.1, at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield, where funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2. Burial will follow at Witt Cemetery in Rockbridge with full military honors provided by Legion Fitzsimmons Post 225. She was born in Chesterfield Oct. 1, 1925, the daughter of the late William and Mahala "Ann" (Taylor) Adams. She was raised with her siblings on a farm near Chesterfield. She married Raymond Kraushaar and they resided in Jerseyville for many years until his death on Nov. 10, 1975. She was widely known in Jerseyville, where she worked in various establishments including the Diner, American Legion and for many years worked as a sales clerk at the Discount House. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the ladies auxiliaries at the VFW and American Legion, all in Jerseyville.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Victor and Janet Kraushaar of Jerseyville; two granddaughters and their spouses, Nancy and Carl Clifford of Carrollton and Vickie and Ty Johnson of Jerseyville; four great-grandchildren, David, Jeremy and Dylan Clifford and Tyler Johnson; a brother, Robert Adams of Hardin; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Clara Woods of Alton and Georgia and Samuel Abbott of Carrollton. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, William Burnett; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Rose Marie Adams and Hazel and William Abbott; and three brothers, William, Willis "Junior" and Harry "Bud" Adams. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14. Born in Roodhouse on Jan. 8, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Claude and Nellie Mae (Robinson) Barber. She married Thomas H. Prough on July 19, 1947, in Roodhouse and he preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1991. Surviving are her three children, Janet (Vic) Kraushaar of Jerseyville, Tom (Linda) Prough and Mary Ann (Bob) Richey of Carrollton; five grandchildren, Nancy (Carl) Clifford, Vickie (Ty) Johnson, Christopher Steinacher, Benjamin Thomas Prough, Andrew Prough; seven great-grandchildren, David, Jeremy, Dylan, Josie, Klayton, Tyler and Carson; and a great-grandchild, Brody.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were a grandchild, Ryan Prough; two sisters, Alice Buster, Niada Neff; and a brother, Charles Barber. Juanita graduated from Roodhouse High School. She was a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed talking to her friends on the phone, watching TV, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two daughters, Myrtle (Balcom) Fish and Dorothy Georgetta Balcom, and a son, Bill Balcom, her stepfather, William Burnett, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose Marie Adams and Hazel and William Abbott and Mildred and Raymond Kraushaar, and three brothers, William, Willis "Junior" and Harry "Bud" Adams, and a daughter-in-law and four sons-in-law, Wanda Balcom; Bob Horton and Ron Jones and Benny Fish and Everett Austin Jr., and infant great-grandson, Charles Rudd Austin.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. service Wednesday, Jan. 13, at Alexander and Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. The Rev. Jon Lorch will officiate.
