He is buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, IL. He was raised on his father Jasper Mifflin Westfall's farm south of Fieldon, IL with his brothers and sisters-my father Walter Edward "Ed" Westfall, Jasper Westfall Jr., Floyd Westfall, Laura Westfall, and Anna Westfall. Goldie (Westfall) Feyerabend's obituary - Goldie Helen Feyerabend, 73, died at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1992, at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born in Alton on Dec. 17, 1919, a daughter of the late Lonnie and Martha (Thomas) Westfall. Her husband, Carl Feyerabend, died April 23, 1984. Surviving are a sister, Lillie Hetzel of Tampa, Fla.; a half sister, Esther Chapman of Benld; and a half brother, Lonnie Westfall of Ocala, Fla. Three half brothers, Phillip, Donald and Paul Westfall, preceded her in death. There will be no visitation. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Gubser Funeral Home of Jerseyville was in charge of arrangements.

He died suddenly of cardiac arrest. After Donald Westfall's death his wife Deloris remarried to Leon Stone in 1985. Deloris died 11-15-2001 in Alton, IL after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Jerseyville, she was a daughter of the late Leo L. Pickett and the late Dorothy Westfall. She was employed in the housekeeping department at Alton Memorial Hospital, where she retired. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Hardin of Sacramento, Calif., and Janet Brundige of Eatonville, Wash.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Haynes-Mogen of Mesa, Ariz. She was preceded in death by a son, Terry Westfall; a daughter, Joyce Ann Westfall; and two brothers, E. Laverne Pickett and L. Wayne Pickett. The body was cremated. A memorial service was conducted Friday, Feb. 10, at Mary Mount Manor in Tacoma.

He was born in Bethany, Missouri on September 2, 1922 to William and Mary (Marks) Dearing. Glenn served his country in the US Army and was awarded four bronze stars. He had been a professional photographer in the Indianapolis area since 1955. Glenn was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church and the American Legion, Kennington Post. He is survived by his wife, Mary C. (Barnes) Dearing; sons, Glenn D. Dearing, Jr. (Kimberly) of Lawrence and Stanley E. Dearing of Indianapolis; daughter, Linda K. Buter of Mulberry, FL; brother, Virgil Lee Dearing of Tampa, FL; ten grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael D. II "Dody," born August 24, 1937, in Plymouth, Mass., passed away from Lewy Body Dementia, April 23, 2011, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyfton Orlin and Sarah Elizabeth Owens Doten. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lorraine "Raine" Doten; son, Dody and his wife, Wendy; son, John and his wife, Lisa; son, Chris; and granddaughter, Danielle, all of Tampa. He is also survived by his two brothers, Elmer Lawrence of Abington, Mass., and Clyfton Orlin of Plymouth; his uncle, George and his wife, Ramona Card Doten of Portland, Conn.; as well as a brother and sister-in-law; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Dody graduated from Plymouth High School in 1955, and then spent the summer playing the bass fiddle on Block Island, R.I., where he met his future wife. Dody then joined the U.S. Air Force as a radar operator. Upon leaving the Air Force, he furthered his education by attending Berkley Preparatory School in Boston, Mass., and Bedford Institute of Technology in New Bedford, Mass. Dody and Raine moved to Florida, where he went to work for GTE. He retired as a system engineer in 1997. Since retirement, as well as throughout his life, he has played the bass fiddle for several bands. He most recently participated with the Swing Sound Orchestra, The Sun City Center Big Band, The Ten O' Clock Band and the Blue Notes. A celebration of life service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2011, at Bethel Assemblies of God, 1510 W. Hillsborough Ave., Tampa. In addition to his wife, surviving are 2 Stepchildren, Dick Bowers of Springfield and Jackie Ringhausen of Wood River; 5 grandchildren; and 1 sister, Frances Westfall of Tampa, Florida. Visitation will be from 4-9 pm Tuesday at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Services will be held there at 2 pm Wednesday with the Rev. R. E. George officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery. The heart fund has been named as a memorial.

Lee and Wilma (Thomas) Schaaf had a daughter Lucille Schaaf who died 9-19-1927 at six months of age and her burial was in Oak Grove cemetery in Jerseyville, IL.
John Boomer
John Boomer. Jerseyville Republican, April 11, 1912. John Boomer died at his home 8 miles south of Jerseyville March 31 at 5 p.m. after an illness of about 3 months, aged 88 years and 6 months. He was born in Whittenberg, Germany, and emigrated to this country at the age of 14 years. He enlisted and served in the Mexican war and received an honorable discharge.
He was united in marriage to Mrs. Mary Delaney on October 20, 1852. To this union was born two sons and four daughters: John A. and Daniel, Mrs. Maria Hewitt, Mrs. Mary E. Minard, Mrs. Anna Wheeler, and Mrs. Emma Perdun. The latter two have passed away. There are 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He attended and was a believer inn the Lutheran Church. Through the last few years of his life he had the care of his affectionate daughter, Mrs. Maria Hewitt. He has lived on the same farm for 43 years and was respected by all who knew him. His remains were laid to rest April 3 in Otterville Cemetery.

He was born Aug. 6, 1916, in Jersey County to Ed and Pearl (Russell) McGowen. He married Ethel R Boomer Sept. 27, 1978, in Jerseyville. She died in August 2002. His second marriage was to Alvena (Pitchford) Whitwell on Aug. 25, 2006, at the Great River Road Opry in Hillview, Ill. He was a retired mechanic at Sunderland Chevrolet in Jerseyville and a member of Charity Christian Center in Jerseyville.
Survivors include his wife, Alvena McGowen of Jerseyville; sons, Gene and Becky McGowen of Brighton, Mike McGowen of Jerseyville, and Tim McGowen of Carrollton; stepson, Randy Wagoner of Rosewood Heights; grandchildren, J.R. McGowen, Michelle Summar, Kelly Graham, Sarah McGowen, Sean McGowen, Derek McGowen; four stepgrandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Timpe of Jerseyville. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gladys Mount and Opal Priest; one brother, Lawrence McGowen; and one stepdaughter Pat Rench. Ethel (Boomer) Shults McGowen and her first husband William Shults's daughter Patricia Louise Rench, 60, died at 9:10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at Jersey Community Hospital after a four-year fight with ovarian cancer. She was born Nov. 17, 1942, in Jerseyville to William H. Shults and Ethel Mae (Boomer) Shults McGowen. A 1960 graduate of Jersey Community High School, she began working at Rudolph's Department Store in Jerseyville, where she and her future husband both worked. After her marriage, she elected to stay home and care for her family. She enjoyed traveling, was an avid reader, reading a book a day, and especially enjoyed decorating, a hobby that was enhanced by assisting her daughter at the Red Rooster in Jerseyville.
She married James K. Rench Dec. 28, 1963, in Waterloo and they have shared and enjoyed 39 years of marriage. In addition to her husband, surviving are a daughter, Penny Rench of Jerseyville; a nephew and his wife, Robert and Bev Schneider of Jerseyville; and her mother-in-law, Lois Rench of Hillsboro. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Shirley Schneider. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. There will be no funeral services and private burial will be at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be given to the Jersey County Relay for Life.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ in Wood River for Eva Ione McIntire of East Alton. Mrs. McIntire, 84, died June 13 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. She was born October 31, 1925 near Jerseyville, the daughter of Roy and Delia Ione (Gettings) Boomer. She married Charles L. McIntire in 1946; he died in 2001.
She had been a beautician for Stix, Baer and Fuller in St. Louis for over 20 years before retiring. She was a member of St. John's Church of Christ in Wood River for over 50 years. Surviving are a daughter; two grandchildren; a great-grandson and two sisters, Violet Frailey and Inez French, both of Jerseyville. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m., prior to the service, at the church. Burial will be in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation. Marks Mortuary in Wood River is in charge of arrangements.

Roy and Della Ione (Gettings) Boomer's daughter Eva (Boomer) McIntire's husband Charles L. McIntire's obituary - Charles L. McIntire, 77, died at 4:24 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at Saint Clare's Hospital in Alton. Born Sept. 4, 1924, in Jersey County, he was a son of the late A. Floyd and Mary (Goewey) McIntire. A World War II Marine Corps veteran, he was a stillman for Clark Oil Co., retiring in 1986 after 35 years of dedicated service. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the Wood River Veterans of Foreign Wars, and he was an active member of the Rosewood Heights Fire Department for 22 years, with 10 years of service as fire chief. He married the former Eva Boomer Feb. 16, 1946, in Jerseyville. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Richard Moldenhauer of Springfield; two grandchildren, Eric and Ryan Moldenhauer of Springfield; and a brother, Harry McIntire of Roswell, Ga. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd McIntire and Bob McIntire, and three sisters, Elizabeth Kaufman, Minerva Kohnen and Bessie McIntire. Visitation was from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, where funeral services were conducted Wednesday. Dr. Nancy Livingston officiated. Burial followed at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

French, 80, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Born Jan. 20, 1922, in Campbell, Mo., he was one of 10 children of Warren William French and Della M. (Wood) French Fry. He attended high school in Flint, Mich., and served his country in the South Pacific during World War II with the U.S. Army Air Force. For his dedication, he was a member of the Jerseyville American Legion as well as a member of the Moose Lodge and Elk Lodge, both in Jerseyville. He retired in 1987 from the United States Postal Service, after working as a postal clerk in the Jerseyville office for more than 25 years. He married the former Inez Boomer July 24, 1948, at the Peace United Church of Christ in Jerseyville. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Ruth Ann Hale of Louisville, Ky., and Vicki and Gary Bennington of Godfrey; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David French of Houston, Texas, and John and Catherine French of Lake St. Louis; eight grandchildren, Eric Ferenbach, Jody (Ferenbach) Hagewood, Mike French, Dan French, Casey Bennington, Olivia Bennington, Meghan French andAugustus French; and four great-grandchildren, Alexandria Ferenbach, Eric Ferenbach Jr. and Luke and Julia Hagewood. The last surviving member of his family, he was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Rachel Smith and Laverne Prince; and seven brothers, Jerry Fry, Hal "Bud" French, Eugene French, Marshall Fry, Loman Fry, Kenneth Fry and Harold Fry. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Crawford Funeral Home (the Jacoby Funeral Home Chapel) in Jerseyville, where the Elks Lodge 954 conducted services that evening. A Mass of Christian Burial took place at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville, with Father William Hembrow officiating. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville with military graveside rites conducted by the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 and the VFW Post 4528. Webster, 74, died at 3 a.m., Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at Christian Hospital Northeast in St Louis County. She was born in Jersey County Sept. 24, 1934, the youngest of five daughters born to the late Roy and Dellia Ione (Gettings) Boomer. She attended schools in Muskegan, Mich., and Jersey County, graduating from Jersey Community High School in 1952. She married Charles E. Webster on Oct. 10, 1952, in Jerseyville and they shared the past 56 years together. He survives. Naomi worked for the Jerseyville Telephone Company and its successors for many years until its conversion to dial in 1963. She then worked for Jersey Community Unit School District 100, where she retired as a secretary in the bus shed after 31 years of service.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Chuck Sethaler of Godfrey; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Bradley and Kindra Webster of Dow; five grandchildren and a spouse, Jamie and Wade Austin of Godfrey, Katie Sethaler of Glen Carbon and Kristen, Casey and Travis Webster, all of Dow; two great-grandchildren, Kelsey Brantley and Maggie Austin; three sisters, Violet Phipps Fraley and Inez French, both of Jerseyville, and Eva McIntire of Sherman; a very special nephew, Marion Phipps of Jerseyville, who was like a brother to her; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepfather, William Schackelford; a sister, Ethel McGowen; and two nieces, Pat Rench and Shirley Schneider. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 2, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 3. Note: I found the following information about Rosedale Township, Jersey County, IL from - 1885 Jersey County History of Greene and Jersey Counties, Illinois, pp. 396 - 411, regarding Edward L. Phipps' great grandfather Thomas K. Phipps - THOMAS K. PHIPPS came to this county in 1848, and purchased then forty acres of land in the western portion of the county. Three years later he sold this land and bought another 40, to which, in 1855, he added 120 acres. In 1857 bought 200 acres more, and divided his estate among his children, reserving 200 acres for himself. Mr. Phipps cleared nearly all of his land, which was covered with bushes and small timber. he has been an enterprising and successful farmer. In 1878 he rented his farm to one of his sons and moved to Rosedale, where he built a dwelling house and also a store building, and engaged in merchandising, purchasing a general stock of goods, to the value of about one thousand dollars. He continued in business there four years, then on account of the death of his son, who was accidentally killed, he returned to his farm where he now lives. He built a store room near his residence, and now sells general merchandise. Thomas K. Phipps was born in Virginia, Dec. 17, 1819. He remained in that state until 17 years old, then came west, and visited Kansas, Missouri and Iowa, after which he south to Louisiana and Mississippi. He was married in the latter state to Martha Ruy, who was born May 9, 1829. In 1847 he removed to Illinois, and three years later, to this county. Mr. and Mrs. Phipps have had four children - Lewis, born June 1, 1855, died Feb. 2, 1882; John, born May 23, 1857; Mary J., born in 1859, and died in infancy, and Isabel, born Feb. 10, 1861, now married to Leonard Ratcliff. Mr. Phipps is a member of the Masonic fraternity, and a republican politically. He has held all of the township offices, including justice of the peace, and is one of the leading citizens of Rosedale township.

Phipps' uncle Parley Kensman Phipps' obituary - Feb 1950: Parley Kensman Phipps, a retired farmer of the Rosedale vicinity, died at three-thirty o'clock Saturday afternoon 28 January at the Memorial hospital in Alton where he had been a patient for several days. For the past three years Mr. Phipps had made his home in Alton. The deceased was the son of the late Louis M. and Sarah Baldridge Phipps, and was born in Jersey County 29 March 1879. His age at the time of death was seventy years, nine months and twenty-nine days. He is survived by one brother, Louis N. Phipps of Fieldon. Anna Boomer, wife of Roy Boomer, Jerseyville died Nov.8, at Waters nursing home where she had resided the past month. He died Nov. 6, 1953. She was a sales clerk for Don's Department Store in Jerseyville, retiring in 1971, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jerseyville, where she attended the Willing Workers Sunday school class, and was a member of the Jersey Community Hospital Auxiliary.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Janet Kay and Kenneth E. Wahle of Washington, Mo.; two grandsons and their wives, Richard Todd and Sherry Wahle of Washington, Mo., and Bradley Scott and Janet Wahle of Lee's Summit, Mo.; four great-grandchildren, Sarah, Brandon, Brett and Rachel Wahle; nieces; cousins; and several friends. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, John W. and Gloria Mayberry Jr. of Edwardsville and Dudley Rice of Cottage Hills; four daughters and their husbands, Dorothy and Jerry Caito of Alton, Myrtle and Gary Hoerle of Granite City, Mamie and Thomas Wheat of Salem, Mo., and Goldie and Alan Ryffel of Park Hill, Mo.; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at Valley View Funeral Home in Edwardsville, where services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7. Boomer, 53, a former Jerseyville resident, died at Veteran's Hospital in Portland, OR. Final rites were held at Ward's Klamath funeral home, Klamath Falls, OR. Interment was in Keternal Hills Memorial Gardens. Boomer was born May 10, 1922 in Jerseyville. He married Mary M. (Allen) Boomer, in Jerseyville. They owned and operated a business at Willow Ranch, CA, for 5 years. In 1955 they moved to Langell Valley where they operated the Lorella Store until 1967 when they moved to Klamath Falls. Bormer was a part owner of the Aaa paving business and at the time of his death was employed by Bob Stewart in construction. He had served in WWII.
His survivors include his widow; 1 son, Jes Daniel Boomer, Klamath Falls; 1 daughter, Ramona Fogarty, San Jose, CA; mother Beulah Delarm; 1 brother Lloyd Boomer; 1 sister, Nadine Burwell, all of Eugene; and 1 granddaughter, Tanya Boomer, Roseburg.

Her husband Eliphalet Hewitt was the son of Eliphalet Hewitt and Margarite (White) Hewitt. He was born 12-4-1860, and died 5-20-1930. He is buried at Noble Cemetery, Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL.
(4) John and Mary (Wiener) Delaney Boomer's daughter Mary E. Boomer married James C. Minard. Her husband James C. Minard born in Jerseyville, Illinois May 4, 1856. Married Mary E. boomer on May 27, 1898. Three girls and three boys born to them. He died at home seven miles southwest of Jerseyville, July 14, 1904. Funeral from home July 16. Rev. S. Catt. Burial in Oak Grove cemetery.

(1a) James and Mary (Boomer) Minard's son William Minard died 03-21-1985. Services were conducted Saturday afternoon at Gubser Funeral Home for William Minard, 84, of Jerseyville who died at 8:30 pm on March 21, 1985 at the Jersey Community Hospital emergency room from natural causes. Rev. V. Clay Noah officiated. Self-employed, he was a former school bus driver in School District 100. He was born July 10, 1900 in Jersey County to the late James and Mary E. Boomer Minard.
He is survived by his Wife, Opal Howell Minard whom he married in Gladstone, Illinois July 7, 1931; one daughter, Marjorie Cope of Jerseyville; three grandchildren, Cynthia Kuehnel of Jerseyville, Angela and Jeffrey, at home; and a brother, Curt Minard of Boise, Idaho. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. The First Baptist church and the Jerseyville Free Library are designated as memorials.

William Minard's wife Opal G. Minard, 84, died at 5 pm Monday, October 29, 1990 at home. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge. Born in Hancock County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd E. and Sarah Blanche (Orth) Howell. On July 7, 1931, in Gladstone, she married William Minard, and he died on March 21, 1985. Surviving are a daughter, Marjorie Cope of Jerseyville; three grandchildren; a great grandchild; a brother, Richard Howell of Lombard; and a sister, Cathryn Smith of Jerseyville.
Preceding her in death were two Sisters, Evelyn Meyer and Helen Haushalter; and three brothers, Elmer, Gerald and Earl Frederick Howell. Visitation is from 12:30 pm Thursday until service time at 1:30 pm at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. The Rev. Grant Jensen will officiate. Burial is in Oak Grove cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist church of Jerseyville or the Jerseyville Free Library.

They have 2 children-John Gregory Russell Jr, and Charise Russell who married Adam Oser of Erie, PA. They had these children-Colton Oser, Allyson Oser, and Jaden Oser (deceased). Joseph Otto and Mary (Freand) Dunham's daughter Marjorie Dunham married Leslie Green and lives in Payson, Ariz.

(6) John and Mary (Wiener) Delaney Boomer's daughter Emma A. Boomer married Clarence Perdun 8-6-1885 in Jersey County, IL. Clarence and Emma (Boomer) Perdun's son Lloyd Perdun, a retired Jersey County farmer, died Saturday morning, November 22, 1969 at 10:30 o'clock at St. Anthony's hospital in Alton where he had been a patient for a day. Mr. Perdun resided west of Jerseyville in English township. Final rites were conducted at the United Methodist church in Jerseyville Tuesday afternoon, 25 November at two o'clock by the pastor, Rev. W. Louis Purcell. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. Visitation hours were held at the Gubser Funeral Home and Masonic services were conducted at the funeral home Monday evening at eight o'clock. Mr. Perdun was a son of the Late Clarence and Emma Boomer Perdun and was born in Jersey County 8 October 1885.
