The Carrollton Patriot - Carrollton IL Nov 23, 1922, Mrs. Clarisse Ellen Tally, widow of John Talley, died Saturday at the home of her son, Lee Scoggins of Pacific Union, age 67 years. Burial was in the Cummings Cemetery. Mrs. Talley whose maiden name was Hardwick, was a daughter of Geo. Hardwick. She was born near Woody, Sept. 24 1855. She was married to Francis Scoggins in 1876 and to them two children were born. Mr Scoggins died in 1880 and she afterwards, married John T Talley. They had 5 children.

George Lodrick Talley's obituary - George Lodrick Talley, died 07-25-1968. George Lodrick Talley, 76 years, 3 months, 23 days, a retired farmer who resided on Rural Route 1, Fieldon, died Wednesday afternoon, July 25, at 1 pm at Jersey Community hospital. He had been a patient for 24 days, and in failing health for about 5 years. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 pm at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev. A. J. Maggos of Alton officiated and internment was in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation hours were held at the funeral home. Mr. Talley was a son of the late John Thomas & Clara Ellen (Hardwick) Talley and was born in Greene County March 31, 1892.

Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Gertrude E. Talley of Fieldon; 9 daughters, Gertrude Marvelle Brooks of Kane, Maudie Ellen Armeda Dunham, Lola Mae Dunham, Vivian Pauline Akers and Wilma Irene Griffin of Jerseyville, Lindel Eileen Moore of Edwardsville, Beulah Deloris Westfall of Fieldon, Ethel Frances Westfall of Alton and Beatrice Mae White of Elsah; 2 sons, George J. (Parker) Talley's obituary - The funeral of Gertrude Elizabeth Talley, 88, who resided at Greenwood Manor Nursing Home, was conducted Tuesday afternoon at Jacoby Bros. Funeral Home with the Revs. Wilbur Cain and Glenn Cain officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. Her death occurred at 9 p.m. Oct. 12, 1983 at Jersey Community Hospital. Born Oct. 14, 1895 in Eldred, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Frances (Meadows) Parker and was a member of the Open Door Felowship Church.

Her survivors are two sons, George Talley of Fieldon and Charles Talley of Alton; daughters, Marvell Brooks, Kane, Armeda Dunham, Lola Mae Dunham, Vivian Akers, Deloris Westfall and Beatrice White, all of Jerseyvile, Elene Moore, Granite City, Wilma Griffin, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Frances Crumley of Alton; 54 grandchildren, 111 great-grandchildren and 42 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Talley on June 24, 1968, one brother, two sisters, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The Open Door Fellowship Church has been named as a memorial.

George and Gertrude (Parker) Talley's son George John Talley's obituary - George John Talley, 80, died at 11:10 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2004, at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville. He was born near Eldred Oct. 20, 1923, one of 11 children born to the late George L. and Gertrude E. (Parker) Talley. He married the former Emma Ellen Scoggins Jan. 18, 1946, in Hardin, and they shared the past 58 years together and raised a family that included five children. She survives. He was raised in the Fieldon area, and attended the country schools of Jersey County. With the exception of his service to his country during World War II, with the U.S. Army in Europe, he was a lifetime resident of Jersey County. For many years, he operated a farm near Fieldon and was employed by Lenhardt Tool and Die in Alton as a welder. A member of the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492, he took the most pride in his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by their five children and their spouses, Marjorie and Maurice Thompson of Navato, Calif., Leon and Barbara Talley of Jerseyville, John Talley and his friend, Steve, of Wood River, Sharon and Mike Cameron of Jerseyville and Bill and Patricia Talley of Rosewood Heights; 10 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Charles Talley of Carrollton; and four sisters, Ilean Moore of Granite City, Frances Crumley of Alton, Beatrice Ebker and Lola Dunham, both of Jerseyville. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Marvell Brooks, Armeda Dunham, Vivian Akers, Wilma Griffin and Delores Stone. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. A.J. Maggos will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, with military rites conducted by the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492. George John Talley's wife Emma Ellen (Scoggins) Talley's obituary - Emma Ellen Talley, 83, died at 3:02 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at Jersey Community Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in a log cabin just north of Fieldon on Sept. 17, 1928, the last surviving child born to Foster Louis and Sophrona A. (Glowner) Scoggins. She was a homemaker by choice, and enjoyed caring for her home and her family. She married George John Talley on Jan. 18, 1946, in Hardin, and they shared 58 years together before his death on July 16, 2004.

Surviving are her five children and their spouses, Marjorie and Maurice Thompson of Napa Valley, Calif., Leon and Barbara Talley of Jerseyville, John Talley and his partner, Steve McGibany, of Collinsville, Sharon and Mike Cameron of Jerseyville, and Bill and Patricia Talley of Rosewood Heights; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Middleton Scoggins, Emil Scoggins, Ernest Meeks and Everett Meeks; four sisters, Virginia Miller, Mary Walker, Daisy Scott and Ethel Glowner; and an infant sister, Levina Scoggins. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 2, at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3. The Rev. Wilbur Cain will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or to the Susan B. Komen Foundation in honor of Emma's successful battle with breast cancer.

(2a) George and Gertrude (Parker) Talley's son Charles Eldon Talley's obituary - Charles E. Talley, 67, died at 2:35 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, at his home after being diagnosed in June with liver cancer. Born Sept. 29, 1939, in Jersey County, he was the youngest of 11 children of George L. and Gertrude E. (Parker) Talley. He was raised in the Fieldon area and attended Jersey Community High School. He entered the U.S. Army and served in Germany. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the area, married the former Patricia Essary, and they had two children. He was employed in the construction field most of his life. He had been employed as a union carpenter with Granite City local, was a former business agent for the Jerseyville local and retired from Alton Local 218. He was an active person and always enjoyed being around people. He was especially fond of his family, enjoyed being on the farm, playing cards and dancing on Saturday nights and attending country and western shows. He was a member of the American Legion, Jerseyville Moose Lodge, Fieldon Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. He married the former Joyce (Schroeder) Wade on Dec. 19, 1992, at St. John's Catholic Church in Carrolton, and they shared the past 14 years together.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Kevin Sams of Jerseyville; a son, Charles Eric Talley of Fieldon; three stepchildren and their spouses, Steven and Becky Wade of Bethalto, Cari Graham and Lori and Kirby Flowers, all of Carrollton; nine grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; three sisters, Lola Dunham and Beatrice Ebker, both of Jerseyville, and Frances Crumley of Alton; and his mother-in-law, Margaret Schroeder of Jerseyville. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George J. Talley; and six sisters, Marvell Brooks, Armeda Dunham, Ilean Moore, Vivian Akers, Wilma Griffin and Delores Stone. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m., Sunday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. The Rev. A.J. Maggos will officiate at services at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, with full military graveside rites conducted by Jerseyville American Legion Post 492. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation was named as a memorial.

He was born March 3, 1941 in Jerseyville, IL, the son of Arthur and Agnes (Franz) Ward. Paul died April 16, 2010, at St. John's Mercy Health Care in St. Louis, MO. His burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, IL. Paul and Virginia (Griffin) Ward had 3 children-Martin Ward; Bonnie Ward who married Mark Helfer, the son Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Helfer; and Anna Ward who married R. Calvin Keaton.

He was born 5-14-1929 in Jersey County, IL, and died 11-14-1982 at Jersey Community Hospital, in Jerseyville, IL. He was the son of Alonzo "Lonnie" and Frances (Thomas) Westfall.

Donald and Deloris (Talley) Westfall had 2 children-Dwight Lee Westfall born 5-6-1963 and daughter Donna Jean Westfall born 5-1-1959 who live in the Alton IL area. Their son Dwight Lee Westfall Sr. is married and has a son Dwight Lee Westfall Jr. born 5-23-1985. Dwight Lee Westfall Sr.'s son Dwight Lee Westfall Jr. and Bobbi Jo Sanders have a daughter Makaela Jean Westfall born 6-13-2003. Donald Westfall worked at the flour mill in Alton. He died suddenly of cardiac arrest. After Donald Westfall's death his wife Deloris remarried to Leon Stone in 1985. Deloris died 11-15-2001 in Alton, IL after a lengthy battle with cancer. She is buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, IL.

Born Sept. 30, 1931, in Greene County, she was a daughter of the late George L. and Gertrude E. (Parker) Talley. She was self-employed as an Avon representative and was a member of the Ladies of the Moose. She married Donald L. Westfall in 1951. He died in 1982. She married Leon Stone in 1985 in Jerseyville. He survives.

Also surviving are a son, Dewight L. Westfall Sr.; a daughter, Donna J. Westfall; a grandson, Dewight L. Westfall Jr.; four sisters, Lola (Talley) Dunham of Jerseyville, Ilene (Talley) Moore of Granite City, Francis (Talley) Crumley of Alton and Beatrice (Talley) Ebker of Jerseyville; and two brothers, George L. Talley Sr. of Jerseyville and Charles E. Talley of Carrolton. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Marvel (Talley) Brooks, Armeda (Talley) Dunham, Vivian (Talley) Akers and Wilma (Talley) Griffin. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Godfrey. Visitation will continue from noon until time of services at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. His survivors are his wife, the former Deloris Talley whom he married May 5, 1951 in madison County; mother, Frances E. Westfall of Tampa, Fla; a daughter, Donna Westfall of Jerseyville; brothers, Lonnie and Francis Westfall of Tampa, Fla.; sisters, Viola Dearing and Lily Cail of Tampa, Fla.; Geradine Hedrick, Springfield and Goldie Feyerabend, Jerseyville.

Doloris B. (Talley) Westfall Stone's 2nd husband Leon S. "Stoney" Stone Sr.'s obituary - Leon S. "Stoney" Stone Sr., 80, died at 6:37 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010, at St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton. He was born in Brighton on May 28, 1930, and was the son of Christy John and Elizabeth (Kruse) Stone, now deceased. Growing up, he attended the rural schools and assisted on the family farm. He was an electrician, having worked for several area contractors, retiring from Jun Construction Company of Godfrey.

Surviving are one son, Leon S. Stone Jr. and his wife, Lori, of Alton; two daughters, Luann Mikoff of Alton and Teri Bullock and her husband, Donald, of Charlotte, Mich., his former wife, Bonnie Stone of Godfrey; six grandchildren; Jessica and Jacob Stone of Alton, Anthony "Tony" Mikoff of Alton, Andrea Mikoff of Godfrey, Kristen Strychar of Dearborn, Mich., and Bryan Bullock of Minneapolis; a great- grandson, Andrew Strychar of Dearborn; one brother, Virgil Stone, and his wife, Barbara, of Jerseyville; four sisters, Roberta Burleson, Dorothy Eisenreich, Mary Lou Moore and husband, Charles, all of Alton, Shirley Berry and her husband, Paul, of Granite City; a former son-in-law, Steve Mikoff of Hillview; and several nieces and nephews. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Joe Patty of Jacksonville, Ill., and Leslie and Jim Tepen of Jerseyville; one son, Allen Porter of Jerseyville; six grandchildren, Jeremiah and his wife, Jennifer, Patty, Kati Patty, Heather Porter, Tiffany Porter, Kristin Tepen and Jamison Metcalf; two great-grandchildren, Leeann and Bailey Patty; two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Leola and Richard Stone and Diana and Darrel Hammon, all of White Hall, and Donald Kallal of Kane; and one sister-in-law, Kay Brooks of Roodhouse. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ida Kallal and Mary Drake; and two brothers, George and Robert Brooks. Born April 6, 1935, in Greene County, she was a daughter of the late Vernis Leo and Marvell (Talley) Brooks. She was reared and grew up near Kane and graduated from Kane High School. She worked in the medical field for many years, working for various nursing homes in the area and most recently was assisting the elderly as a home care giver. She married Donald Kallal Feb. 22, 1952, in Carrollton. He survives.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of nearly 50 years, are four daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Jerry Meyer of Kane, Bonna Driver of Kane, Kathleen and Doug Henderson of Kane and Teresa and Dion Fry of Kane; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Wendy Kallal of Kane and Ronald and Cindy Kallal of Kane; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Leola Stone of Roodhouse, Juanita Kallal of Kane and Dianna Hammon of White Hall. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Imogene Drake, and two brothers, Robert Brooks and George "Sonny" Brooks. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Gary Whitley from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, where she was a member, will officiate. She will be laid to rest in Kane Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Jerseyville.

His burial was at Kane Cemetery, Kane, Greene Co., IL, Noah Eugene and Bessie (Parker) Brown had 6 children-Leonard Laverne Brown Aug. 21, 1930, died Dec. 24, 1996, married Estalene Naomi Frye; Louise Brown; Walter Brown; Henry Jack Brown born 19 Jul 1916, died 23 Jul 1983, Tec5 U.S. Army WWII; Rosie Brown; and Raymond Brown, married Peggy Jean Hildred. Bessie went on after a divorce from Noah to marry Gus Stone. They are buried in Oak Grove Cemetary in Jerseyville, IL.

Born on July 25, 1918 in Bluffdale Twp., he was the son of the late Henry Lee and Mary Agnes Wilhelmy Scoggins. On Sept. 26, 1939 he married the former Lucille Marie Sonnenberg in Bowling Green, Mo., and she survives.

Also surviving are: 3 daughters and sons in law: Donna and John Nonneman of Carrollton, Marty and Francis Grafford of Kane, Sharon and Gary Flatt of Carrollton, 10 grandchildren: Vickie Bertman, Linda Scoggins, Cathy Locke, Brian Scoggins, Otis Earl Scoggins Jr., Roberta Pritchett, Randal Nonneman, Tim Roth, Mitchell and Alexandra Flatt, and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Otis Earl Scoggins Sr., 4 brothers: Carl Otis (who died in combat on Okinawa in World War II), Howard, Floyd, Ruben and a sister Wilba. Mr. Scoggins was a farmer, an employee of the Carrollton Brickyard, farm manager for Rose Schnelten, and carpenter with Paul Frech.

He also owned and operated the Hunters Horn Tavern from 1963-1968 and the Kane Tavern from 1968-1974. Later he worked for the White Hall and Jerseyville Veteran of Foreign Wars clubs. He was a member of the Jerseyville Moose Lodge. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until service time at 11 A.M. at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton on Saturday. She was born in Carrollton August 20, 1937, the daughter of Ruben and Beulah (Hardwick) Scoggins. Surviving are her stepmother, Marie Scoggins of Wood River; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilbert and Wilma Scoggins of Warner Springs, Calif., Darrel and Marie Scoggins of Wilmington, N.C., Kenneth Scoggins of Alton, Paul and Martina Scoggins of Wood River, Kevin and Connie Scoggins of Hillsboro; a very special friend, Bev Mossbarger of Kampsville; and many nieces and nephews and one very special niece, Carolyn Short of Jerseyville. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Marjorie Booth and Mary Ann Hudson. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 21, at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22. Burial will be in the Mt. Willis Hardwick with his family settled in Woodville, Township, two miles south of the village in 1829 where Mr. Harwick and his wife died at an advanced age. They came from Todd County, Kentucky, where Willis married his Georgia-born sweetheart, Miss Annie Scoggins on 18 Feb 1824.

Willis Hardwick was born in 1784 in Virginia.He died 11 Jan 1866 at the age of 82 years and is buried in the Fry Cemetery in Greene Co., Illinois. Andrew "Judd" Foster was born in 1880 and died 3-10-1966. He is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, IL. He married Bernard and Rosa (Kraushaar) Freand's daughter Wilhelmena "Mena" Freand. She was born 3-5-1889 in English Township, Jersey County, IL, and she died in 1970 in Jersey County, IL at the age of 81. She married Andrew "Judd" Foster 11-7-1906 and they lived in Jerseyville, IL.

Wilhelmena "Mena" (Freand) Foster - Died in 1970. Mina Foster, 81, of Jerseyville, died Tuesday at Jersey Community hospital shortly after admittance. Rev. Carlton Christenson conducted rites held from Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Burial was in Lax cemetery.

She was born March 5, 1889 in Jersey County the daughter of Barney & Rosa (Kraushaar) Freand and was a lifelong resident of this County. Her husband was the late Andrew (Jud) Foster. Surviving are 1 son, Truman, Jerseyville; 2 daughters, Mrs. Trulbia White and Mrs. Helen Pritchard of Jerseyville; 4 grandchildren and 2 g-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Henry Freand of Kane and Louis Freand, Jerseyville; and 1 sister, Mrs. Viola Freer of Godfrey. Her husband, parents, 1 son, 1 brother and 5 sisters preceded her in death.

(1) Andrew "Judd" and Wilhelmena "Mena" (Freand) Foster's daughter Helen B. (Foster) Pritchard died October 8, 1978: Mrs. Helen B. Pritchard, 53, of 311 E. Pearl St, Jerseyville was pronounced dead on arrival at Jersey Community Hospital at 9 am 8 October after suffering an apparent heart attack. She was born in Jersey County 10 July 1925, a daughter of Jud and Mena (Freand) Foster. She had been a bookkeeper at C & W Equipment Co. Mrs. Pritchard was a member of the First Baptist church, Ruby Rebekah Lodge and the Madrigal Singers.

Her survivors are her husband, Hugh Pritchard whom she married 18 February 1956; two daughters, Joyce and Carol Pritchard, both college students; and one brother, Truman Foster of Jerseyville. Her parents, one brother and a sister preceded her in death. Visitation was after 4 pm 10 October at Gubser Funeral Home. The body was taken to the First Baptist church at noon Wednesday where visitation continued until time of services at 2 pm. The Rev. Orrin Anderson of the Alton First Baptist church officiated and burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. The family has designated the Adult Choir of the First Baptist church as a memorial.

(2) Andrew "Judd" and Wilhelmena "Mena" (Freand) Foster's son Truman A. Foster, 92, died at 4:46 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at his home. Born May 8, 1908, in Jersey County, he was a son of the late Andrew Jud and Mena (Freand) Foster. A U.S. Coast Guard World War II veteran, he owned and operated Foster Auto Sales and Repair for 54 years, retiring in 1984, and was a Studebaker and Nash car dealer from 1939 to 1959 in Jerseyville. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, I.O.O.F. No. 53 and American Legion Post No. 492, all in Jerseyville and was a Boy Scouts of America scoutmaster in 1948, the American Red Cross director from 1942 to 1960 and World War II commander of civilian defense. He married the former Blanche Dierking June 27, 1931, in Alton. She died July 3, 1988.

Surviving are a daughter, Joan Foster Dixon of Atlanta, and two grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Dixon and Craig Andrew Dixon, both of Atlanta. He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry L. Foster, and two sisters, Trulbia White and Helen Pritchard. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday.The Rev. Ed Haun officiated. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Jerseyville.

Truman A. Foster's wife Blanche D. (Dierking) Foster, 77, died July 3, 1988, at her residence. She was born in Greene County, daughter of the late Oliver & Pearl (Johnson) Dierking. She married Truman Foster June 27, 1931, in Alton and he survives.

Also surviving are 1 daughter, Joan Dixon, Atlanta, GA; 2 grandchildren and 1 sister, Pauline Fry of Jerseyville. 1 brother and 2 sisters preceded her in death. Visitation and services were held from Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev. John Wilson conducted services and burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. Memorials may be given to American Heart Association.

(3) Andrew "Judd" and Wilhelmena "Mena" (Freand) Foster's daughter Trulbia Foster was born in 1910 and died in 1972. She was married to a man who's last name was White. She is buried in Lax Cemetery, English Township, Jersey County, IL.

(4) Andrew "Judd" and Wilhelmena "Mena" (Freand) Foster's son Henry Leo Foster died in infancy. He was born 1-7-1917 and died 3-19-1917. He is buried in Lax Cemetery, English Township, Jersey County, IL.
