On this page I have provided genealogy information about unrelated families that my parents and I knew in and around the Jersey County, IL area, but are not directly related to our family. James Dabbs James Dabbs settled on section 9, in Otter Creek township in the spring of 1826. He was a native of South Carolina, and was married in that state, in 1802. Several years after that even they emigrated to Barren county, Ky., where they resided until 1819, when they removed to the vicinity of Wood river, Madison county, Ill., form which place they came here, as stated. Jesse Dabbs, a son, was a resident of the county until 1875, when he died. James Dabbs and his wife Mary were worthy members of the pioneer band. He died a resident of the county, Dec. 19, 1841, his wife living until Sept. 8, 1852. Jesse Dabbs, father of Joshua Dabbs, settled on the west of Otter Creek. His grandfather was Nathaniel Dabbs, Sr. and great grandparents Joseph Dabbs and Nanny Hoggatt of Goochland and Lunenburg Counties., VA. Jesse Dabbs was born on 22 Dec 1817 in Barren Co., Kentucky. He died in 1875 in Jersey Co., IL. He was buried in Dabbs Cemetery, Otter Creek Township, Jersey Co., Illinois. Jesse married Mathilda Marsh about 1837 in Jersey Co., IL. Mathilda was born in 1818 in Missouri. Joshua Dabbs Joshua Dabbs was a son of Jesse and Mathilda (Marsh) Dabbs and grandson of James Dabbs - Joshua Elias Dabbs, born 03-15-1841, Grafton, Jersey County, Illinois, died 01-10-1928, buried Rosedale cemetery. Joshua Elias Dabbs, 86, born at Grafton, March 15, 1841 and after an illness of 6 weeks died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Danielson of Alton, on January 10, 1928. When his country had need of him during the Civil War, he enlisted in Company A, 13th US Infantry and saw service at Chickasaw Bayou, Arkansas Post, Steelville, Maynes Bluff, Champion's Hill, Black River Bridge, Battle of Chickamauga, Seige of Nashville, Jackson Mill and while carrying the colors at the battle of Vicksburg, May 19, 1863, he was wounded. On July 31, 1865 he received his honorable discharge. On March 24, 1866 he Married Susan Elizabeth Worthey. Many years ago he was converted and joined Otterville Baptist Church. He later joined First Baptist Church in Jerseyville. He was also a member of Lowe Post GAR. Mrs Dabbs died January 9, 1917, and on October 17, 1918 he married Katherine Dabbs of Otterville who survives him. He is survived by 6 children Mrs. Ernest Wedding and Pearl S. Dabbs of Jerseyville, Mrs. James Danielson of Alton, Mrs. Geo. (Cora) Spangle and A. J. Dabbs of Rosedale and Bert L. Dabbs of near Grafton; 16 grandchildren; 11 g-grandchildren; 1 sister, Mrs. Mary J. Houston of Kansas City, Missouri and 1 brother, E. E. Dabbs of Jerseyville. 4 children preceded him in death. The body was brought to the home of Mrs. Wedding of Jerseyville. Rev. Jenkins officiated at services at Rosedale church. Burial was in Rosedale cemetery. The GAR accompanied the body to the cemetery. Patrick Lynch presented a silk flag and marker to the family. Daughters of Veterans also presented a flag. -------------------------- Joshua Dabbs's wife - Susan Elizabeth (Worthy) Dabbs, born 02-23-1843, Rome, Kanney? County, Tennessee, died 01-09-1917. Susan Elizabeth (Worthy) Dabbs, 73 years, 10 months, 17 days, passed away, after a long illness, at her home in Rosedale, Illinois, January 9, 1917. She came to Jersey County with her parents in October, 1850, and settled 3 miles northwest of Otterville. She professed faith in Christ in the fall of 1863, and united with Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Otterville but later joined the Baptist Church and remained steadfast unto the end. She united in marriage with J. E. Dabbs March 24, 1866. To this union were born 10 children, 6 of whom survive: Mrs. Elizabeth Wedding and Pearl Dabbs of Jerseyville; Mrs. James Danielson and Andrew J. Dabbs of Rosedale; Mrs. Geo. Spangle of Newbern and Bert L. Dabbs of Quarry Township. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, 3 sons, 3 daughters, 14 grandchildren, and 1 sister. ----------------------------- Joshua and Susan (Worthy) Dabbs had 10 children-Bertram "Bert" L. Dabbs, Andrew L. Dabbs, Pearl S. Dabbs, Rosa Elizabeth Dabbs, Cora Mae Dabbs, Emma Dabbs, Jason E. Dabbs, Louis E. Dabbs, Linda J. Dabbs, and Sarah E. Dabbs. (1) Joshua and Susan (Worthy) Dabbs's son - Bertram "Bert" L. Dabbs, born 07-18-1882, Rosedale, Jersey County, Illinois, died 05-13-1965, buried 05-16-1965, Rosedale cemetery. Bertram L. Dabbs, 82 years, 9 months, 25 days, died unexpectedly at 7 am last Thursday at his home near Rosedale. Mr Dabbs was an extensive landowner in the western part of Jersey County, had accompanied his son-in-law, Roy Schallenberg, to see some cattle and his death occurred as he was getting out of the truck after returning home. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, May 16, at 2 pm at the Rosedale cemetery. Mr Dabbs was a son of the late Joshua & Susan (Worthey) Dabbs and was born at Rosedale July 18, 1882. He had spent all of his life in Jersey County where he had engaged in farming. His marriage to Miss Sophia (Miller) Dabbs took place on January 21, 1903. Mr. Dabbs was a member of Full Moon Lodge No. 341, AF & AM, and the Modern Woodman of Grafton and Jersey County Farm Bureau. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Sophia Dabbs, 2 sons, Ernest and Herbert Dabbs, and 1 daughter, Mrs. Roy Schallenberg, all of the Grafton vicinity, 3 grandchildren, and 4 g-grandchildren. 1 son, Albert Leroy Dabbs, preceded him in death. -------------------------- Bertram "Bert" L. Dabbs's wife - Sophia Mae (Miller) Dabbs, born 12-16-1893, Grafton, Jersey County, Illinois, died 05-01-1981, buried Rosedale cemetery. Sophia Mae Dabbs, 97, died at 5 am May 1 at Eunice Smith Extended Care Facility in Alton where she had been a resident since October, 1980. She had made her home with her daughter Sylva Mae Schallenberg in Grafton until her recent illness. Services were conducted Sunday afternoon at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev. Robert Patterson and Rev. Leonard Todd officiated. Interment was in Rosedale cemetery. She was born December 16, 1893 in Grafton, a daughter of the late Charles & Nancy (Matthews) Miller. She was married to Bert L. Dabbs January 21, 1903; he died May 13, 1965. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Schallenberg, 2 grandchildren and 2 g-g-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 3 sons, 1 granddaughter, 1 grandson, 4 sisters and 1 brother. Memorials may be given to Rosedale United Methodist church, where she was a member and the heart fund. ---------------------- Bertram "Bert" and Sophia (Miller) Dabbs had 4 children-Ernest Bertman Dabbs, Herbert S. Dabbs, Sylvia Mae Dabbs, and Albert Leroy Dabbs. ----------------------- (1a) Bertram "Bert" and Sophia (Miller Dabbs's son - Ernest Bertman Dabbs, born 06-11-1903, Jersey County, Illinois, died 07-29-1969, buried 08-01-1969, Rosedale cemetery. Ernest Bertman Dabbs, 66 years, 1 months, 18 days, was a well-known farmer of the Grafton vicinity. He died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, July 29. He was dead on arrival at Alton Memorial Hospital. Visitation hours were held at Jacoby Brothers funeral home in Jerseyville. Services were held there Friday August 1 at 11 am. Interment was in Rosedale cemetery. Mr Dabbs was a son of Mrs. Sophia M. (Miller) Dabbs and the late Bert L. Dabbs and was born in Jersey County on June 11, 1903. He was a member of Jersey County Farm Bureau and formerly served on its Board of Directors. He was a member of Grafton Lodge No. 341 AF & AM, Scottish Rite Consistory and Ainad Temple East St. Louis Shrine. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Adele Dabbs of Grafton, 2 sons, Harold L. of Alton and David D. of Florissant, Missouri, his mother, Mrs. Sophia Dabbs, 1 sister, Mrs. Roy Shallenberg, and 1 brother Herbert S. Dabbs, all of Grafton and 4 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, 1 brother, Albert, and 1 daughter, Mrs. Virginia Campbell. ---------------------------- (2a) Bertram "Bert" and Sophia (Miller) Dabbs's son - Herbert S. Dabbs, born 08-26-1916, Grafton, Jersey County, Illinois, died 04-27-1979, buried Rosedale cemetery. Herbert S. Dabbs, 62, of Route 1, Grafton, a past member of the Jersey County Board and former Rosedale Township Supervisor, died unexpectedly at his home April 27. Visitation was at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville where Masonic services were conducted Sunday evening. Services were held Monday afternoon at the Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Patterson and Rev. Leona Rd Todd officiating. Born August 26, 1916 at Grafton, he was the son of Sophia (Miller) Dabbs and the late Bert L. Dabbs. He farmed in Rosedale Township. Dabbs was a member of Rosedale United Methodist church, Grafton Masonic Lodge 341, Ainad Shrine, East St. Louis and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Collinsville and Jersey County Farm Bureau. He is survived by his Wife, Imogene (Crull) Dabbs whom he married August 26, 1937; 1 daughter, Esther Kanallakan of Grafton; 2 grandchildren; his mother; 1 sister Sylva Mae Schallenberg of Grafton. Burial was in Rosedale cemetery. Memorials may be given to United Methodist Church Building Fund and the heart fund. ----------------------- Herbert S. Dabbs's wife - Imogene (Crull) Dabbs, 86, went to be with the Lord at 1:20 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Esther and Darrell Kanallakan. A daughter of the late Jasper and Emma (Carven) Crull, she was born on April 21, 1919, in Jersey County. She married Herbert S. Dabbs on Aug. 26, 1937, in Jersey County. He died April 27, 1979. A homemaker, she was a member of the Rosedale United Methodist Church, 50-year member of the Grafton Chapter Order of Eastern Star and a past matron. She was also a member of the Jersey County Historical Society. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She will be greatly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Esther and Darrell Kanallakan of Grafton; granddaughter, Debra Stagner of Grafton; grandson and his wife, Mark and Shelly Kanallakan of Fieldon; four great-grandchildren, Kayla and Kyle Stagner and Kari and Kendall Kanallakan; nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, George Teasley of Wood River; and a sister-in-law, Yvonne Crull of Riverside, Calif. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Gerald, Charles, Woodrow, Dwight and Wilbur Crull; and two sisters, Lucille Henry and June Teasley. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. at Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Jeff Stahl. Burial was at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Rosedale United Methodist Church or Jersey County Health Department. -------------------------- (3a) Bertram "Bert" and Sophia (Miller) Dabbs's daughter - Sylva Mae (Dabbs) Schallenberg, 81, died at 10:22 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville. She was born March 7, 1924, to Bertram "Bert" and Sophia (Miller) Dabbs, at the family residence in rural Grafton, where she lived her entire life. She married Roy Schallenberg May 10, 1947, in Jerseyville. He died April 25, 1989. A homemaker, she was a member of Grafton United Methodist Church, Calhoun Order of Eastern Star 990, where she served as Past Matron and was a 50-year member, Al Sihah Temple Daughters of the Nile in East St. Louis, past president of the Grafton American Legion Auxiliary, Alton American Legion Auxiliary and the Jersey County Historical Society. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Imogene Dabbs; a niece, Esther Kanallakan, both of Grafton; a nephew, David Dabbs of Cape Coral, Fla.; and several other nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Albert, Ernest and Herbert Dabbs. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Alexander and Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday. The Revs. Dale Wilfong and Jeff Stahl officiated. He is buried at Rosedale Cemetery, Rosedale Township, Jersey County, IL. (2) Joshua and Susan (Worthy) Dabbs's son Andrew J. Dabbs was born in Jersey County, IL. He died 8-17-1951. He married Anna McGrew. His wife - Anna (McGrew) Dabbs, born 03-31-1890, Tuscola, Douglas County, Illinois, died 08-21-1978, buried Rosedale cemetery. Anna McGrew Dabbs, 88, of Jerseyville died August 21, in White Hall hospital where she had been a patient since August 14. She was born in Tuscola March 31, 1890, a daughter of the late James O. & Lyda (Golay) McGrew. Mrs Dabbs was a member of First United Methodist church. Services were held Thursday afternoon at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev R. E. George, pastor of First United Methodist church officiating. Burial was in Rosedale cemetery. Her survivors are 1 son, Arthur J. Dabbs of Jerseyville; 2 daughters Mrs. Dorothy Beiermann of Jerseyville and Mrs. Lucille McCaherty of Chicago; 6 grandchildren; 18 g-grandchildren and 4 g-g-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. Dabbs who died August 17, 1951; 3 children; 5 sisters and 1 brother. -------------------------- Andrew and Anna (McGrew) Dabbs had 6 children-Arthur J. Dabbs, Wesley Monroe Dabbs, Beulah L. Dabbs, Dorothy Dabbs, Lucille Dabbs, and Everett Leslie Dabbs. --------------------------- (1a) Andrew and Anna (McGrew) Dabbs's son - Arthur J. Dabbs, born 02-24-1910, Rosedale Township, Jersey County, Illinois, died 02-08-1981, buried Oak Grove cemetery. Arthur J. "Irish" Dabbs, of Jerseyville was found dead in the kitchen of his home about 9:30 am February 8 by Les Fryman, a close friend. He had been deceased 2 days according to coroner Paul Schroeder, from natural causes. Born in Rosedale Township in Jersey County February 24, 1910, he was a son of the late Andrew J. & Anna (McGrew) Dabbs. He was a retired self-employed trucker and had worked for the State of Illinois. He is survived by 1 son, Robert Lee Dabbs of Florissant, Missouri; 1 grandchild; 2 sisters, Dorothy Beierman of Jerseyville and Lucille McCarty of Chicago. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister. Visitation will be from 4-9 pm Tuesday at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Services will be conducted there Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 pm by Rev. R. E. George. Interment will be Oak Grove cemetery. Memorials my be given to the heart fund. -------------------------- Arthur Dabbs's wife - Hazel (Waters) Dabbs, born 09-05-1920, Jersey County, Illinois, died 02-24-1954, buried 02-27-1954, Oak Grove cemetery. Hazel (Mickie) Dabbs, 33 years, 5 months, 19 days, died 8:17 am Wednesday February 24, at Alton Memorial Hospital. Mrs Dabbs, (wife of Arthur), had been ill health for some time and about 1 month ago was hospitalized at Henry Ford hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Early Wednesday she was stricken with a heart attack and was moved to the hospital in Gubser's ambulance. The deceased was a daughter of William & Florence (Mourning) Waters, and was born in Jersey County September 5, 1920. In addition to her husband, she is survived by 1 son, Robert Lee Dabbs; her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Waters of Jerseyville and 1 brother, Darrell Waters of Jerseyville. Friends called at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church in Jerseyville Saturday February 27. At 2 pm. Rev J. Dallas Wallace and Rev. Carl C. Moman of Jerseyville will officiate with internment in Oak Grove cemetery. ----------------------------- (2a) Andrew and Anna (McGrew) Dabbs's son Wesley Monroe Dabbs, died 1928, buried Rosedale cemetery. Wesley Monroe Dabbs, 23, a well-known young man of Rosedale Township, died of typhoid fever, and after development of measles, in St. Joseph Hospital, Alton, having had 4 weeks of illness. He leaves his parents, Mr & Mrs. Andrew Dabbs and several brothers and sisters. Funeral was Tuesday afternoon from Rosedale church with Rev. Reuben Russell. Burial in Rosedale cemetery. ----------------------------- (3a) Andrew and Anna (McGrew) Dabbs's daughter - Beulah L. (Dabbs) Aldaco, born 04-04-1913, Jersey County, Illinois, died 04-11-1974, buried 04-13-1974, Rosedale Cemetery. Final services for Mrs Beulah L. Aldaco, 61 of 105 Lincoln, Jersey ville, were conducted Saturday afternoon, April 13, from Gubser Funeral Home. The Rev. R. E. George of the Jerseyville Methodist Church officiated. Interment was in Rosedale Cemetery. Her death occurred at 12:40 a.m. on April 11 at Alton Memorial Hospital. She was born April 4, 1913 in Rosedale a daughter of Mrs. Anna Dabbs of Jerseyville and the late Andrew J. Bub" Dabbs. Mrs Aldaco was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary. In addition to her mother she is survived by a son, Virgil A. Fryman of Godfrey; a brother Arthur Dabbs of Jerseyville; two sisters, Mrs Christ (Dorothy) Beiermann of Jerseyville and Mrs Lucille McCaherty of Atwater; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son. Visitation was held at Gubser Funeral Home. The First United Methodist Church has been designated as a memorial. ------------------------ Beulah (Dabbs) Fryman Aldaco's son - Virgil A. Fryman, 70, died at 12:10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. He was born Dec. 4, 1932, in Rosedale, Ill., to Leslie and Beulah (Dabbs) Fryman. He married the former Sandra Joan Moyer in 1954 in Alton. She preceded him in death. A U.S. Navy Korean War veteran, he was a salesman for Industrial Supply in East Alton. Surviving are two daughters, Laura Rodgers of Godfrey and Lizabeth Fryman of Edwardsville; three sons and their wives, Mike and Sandra Fryman of Ballwin, Mitch and Susan Fryman of Troy andMurray and Jeanne Fryman of Chicago; and six grandchildren. Besides his wife, preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Clayton Fryman. Visitation was Sunday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today. Father Louis Lougen, O.M.I., will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. ------------------------ Virgil and Sandra Joan (Moyer) Fryman's son Mitchell (Mitch) Fryman was born in 1961. He married Jodi Marie Northway of Godfrey, IL in 1984. They divorced in 1991. They had three children from that marriage: Allen Virgil Fryman, born 1984; Sean Anthony Fryman, born 1987; and Nicole Marie Fryman, born 1988. Mitchell Fryman later married Susan Lynn Reynolds (Woodard) of Swansea IL in 1993. She has a child from her previous marriage, but they don't have any together. They live in Troy, IL. ------------------------ (4a) Andrew and Anna (McGrew) Dabbs's daughter Dorothy Dabbs Married Chris Beiermann. They are both deceased. They lived in Jerseyville, IL. They are both buried in Rosedale Cemetery, Rosedale Township, Jersey County, IL. -------------------------- (5a) Andrew and Anna (McGrew) Dabbs's daughter Lucille Dabbs was born in Jersey County, IL She married James N. McCaherty. Her husband - James M. McCaherty, 64, of Atwater, a former Jerseyville resident, died at 12:05 p.m. on 29 Mar. at Carlinville area hospital. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's church in Carlinville and burial was at Bethel Ridge cemetery. He is survived by his widow, the former Lucille Dabbs; five daughters, Mrs. Dale Jarman of Jerseyville, Mrs. Michael Link of Gillespie, Mrs. Barry Feazell of Springfield, Mary and Linda McCaherty of Chicago; a brother, Larry, of Florissant, MO. And a half brother, Harry McCaherty of Hillview. Published, 4 Apr. 1928. ------------------------ (6a) Andrew and Anna (McGrew) Dabbs's son Everett Leslie Dabbs was born 7-15-1929, and died 7-21-1929 in Jersey County, IL. He is buried at Rosedale Cemetery, Rosedale Township, Jersey County, IL. (3) Joshua and Susan (Worthy) Dabbs's son Pearl S. Dabbs was born in Jersey County, IL. He died 6-2-1951 in Jersey County, IL. He was born in Otter Creek township 7 Dec. 1874. In 1880 with his parents, he moved to Edgar, Nebraska; about 1889 moved to Manhattan, Kansas where his parents still reside. He returned to Jersey county and taught school for a time. In 1898 he married Cora Dabbs, daughter of Joshua Dabbs. Lived in St. Louis where Mr. Lewis was employed by a Street car company until 1903. He is the son of John W. and Mary (Baldwin) Lofton. His father was a native of Georgia, his mother of Kentucky. His father died on the 15th day of Jan. 1877, and his mother on the 9th day of Aug. 1870. John L. was raised on a farm, where he worked for his father until 21 years of age. He then worked around from place to place for about four years. In 1852 he went to Volcano, Cal., where he worked in the gold mines another four years. He then returned home and stayed with his father until about 1860. On the 1st day of April 1866 he was married to Mary Jane (Bentley) Bivens. He and his wife then went to Lynn county, Kan., where they resided three years, and then moved to Crawford county in the same state and remained there five years, his wife dying there on the 30th of Oct. 1874. He then returned home and stayed with his father until the latter's death in 1877. Mr. Lofton is the father of five children: Elizabeth, Emily, Charles W. and John T. (twins), and Mary Jane. His wife's children by her first husband are: Lucy Ann and Henrietta. Mr. Lofton owns 40 acres of land on section 36, Richwoods township, and is an old and respected citizen. He is a member of the A. Dabbs was born Feb 27, 1843 in Otter Creek Township, Jersey Co. IL. She died Jan 1, 1905. She married Charles McDanel on 11 Nov 1865 in Jersey Co., IL. He was born Oct 4, 1827 in Madison Co., IL. He died May 22, 1887 in Jersey County, IL. They are both buried at Noble Cemetery, Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL. Charles and Amanda (Dabbs) McDanel were the parents of eight children - Sarah Leonora McDanel, Rachel A. McDanel, Charles G. McDanel, Georgiana McDanel, Ada Maria McDanel, Mark L. McDanel, William R. McDanel, and Grace Adella McDanel. ------------ Charles McDanel was the son of Gregg McDanel and his wife Rachel (Cooper) McDanel who settled in Otter Creek township in the fall of 1828, on Sec. 7, where he lived for many years. Gregg McDanel constructed a dam and mill for sawing lumber on Otter Creek in 1828, and two years later a mill for grinding corn. Gregg McDanel came here from Madison county. He was born 4-9-1788 and died Sept. 17, 1859, leaving a large landed estate. His wife, Rachel (Cooper) McDanel, died May 16, 1861. Both are buried in the Noble cemetery, Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL. Charles McDanel was born in Madison county, IL, 10-4-1827, and was one year old when his parents settled in this county. He was a farmer and owned more than 1400 acres, and also worked in a saw and grist mill. He received a good education, attending the district school and afterwards Shurtleff College, at Upper Alton. In November, 1865, he was married to Amanda Dabbs, who was born in Otter Creek township 2-27-1843. Sabria Bingham had been married previously to Henry Schaaf whom she married 9-20-1854, and they had 2 children-Louisa M. Schaaf born 1856, and Louis H. Schaaf born in 1857. After her marriage to Joshua Dabbs she married Ephraim Hughes 7-31-1864 and they had 2 children-Effie Sabria Hughes born 1865, and Herbert Leon Hughes born in 1867. She later married William Reesor 11-3-1872. They had 3 children-William Reesor, Mary Reesor, and Beatrice Reesor (died young). They were all born in Jersey County, IL. David Dabbs David Dabbs was born in 1806 in Kentucky. He was a son of James and Mary (Harris) Dabbs. He married Mary Ann (maiden name unknown) about 1837 in Illinois. Mary was born in 1816 in Ohio. They had the following children-Martha Ann Dabbs born in 1838 in Ohio; George W. Dabbs born in 1839 in Scott Co., Illinois; John W. Dabbs born in 1843 in Scott Co., Illinois; and Robert Dabbs born in Apr 1850 in Scott Co., Illinois. John W. Dabbs John Wesley Dabbs was born abt. 1811 in Kentucky. He was a son of James and Mary (Harris) Dabbs. John W. Dabbs died in Dec 1866 in Sangamon Co., Illinois. He was buried in Divernon Township Cemetery, Sangamon Co., Illinois. John made a settlement in 1831 on section 24 in Rosedale Township, Jersey Co., IL (then a part of Greene Co., IL), which he purchased from the government the next year and was a resident there for years. John and his family had moved to Sangamon Co., IL by the 1840's. They were found there in Sangamon Co., IL in the 1860 census, with their four children: George W. Dabbs, age 24; Almina J. Dabbs, age 20; Thomas J. Dabbs, age 10; and William H. Dabbs, age 7. John must have been a prosperous farmer, his real estate was valued at $20,000, personal estate $1,500. By 1870, after John died, Martha was still living in Sangamon County with her second husband, Benjamin Fuller and her Dabbs children George W. Dabbs, Thomas J. Dabbs, and William Dabbs. Martha married 2nd a Benjamin A. Fuller on July 12, 1868. In 1880 a Martha Dabbs was the head of household with George W. and William H. William H. Dabbs was disabled. Elmina Dabbs married a Barnes. John W. and Martha J. (Fuller) Dabbs had the following children-George W. Dabbs born abt. 1836 in IL; Elmina J. Dabbs born abt. 1840 in IL; Thomas J. Dabbs born abt. 1850 in IL; and�William H. In this county, April 11, 1861, he wedded Elmina Jane Dobbs, who was born and reared in Jersey county, Illinois, a daughter of John Dobbs, one of the pioneers of Illinois. Her death occurred in 1878.
