The body will be taken to the First Baptist church at noon Wednesday where visitation will continue until time of services at 2 pm. The Rev. Orrin Anderson of the Alton First Baptist church will officiate and burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery. A U.S. Coast Guard World War II veteran, he owned and operated Foster Auto Sales and Repair for 54 years, retiring in 1984, and was a Studebaker and Nash car dealer from 1939 to 1959 in Jerseyville. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, I.O.O.F. No. 53 and American Legion Post No. 492, all in Jerseyville and was a Boy Scouts of America scoutmaster in 1948, the American Red Cross director from 1942 to 1960 and World War II commander of civilian defense. He married the former Blanche Dierking June 27, 1931, in Alton. She died July 3, 1988. Surviving are a daughter, Joan Foster Dixon of Atlanta, and two grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Dixon and Craig Andrew Dixon, both of Atlanta. He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry L. Foster, and two sisters, Trulbia White and Helen Pritchard. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday.The Rev. Ed Haun will officiate. A jewelry distributor in Branson, she retired in 2006. She was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary in Jerseyville and past member of the Otterville Baptist Church and State Street Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Susan Freand of Brighton and Leslie Freand of Hollister, Mo.; two daughters, Carla Norris and Karen Freand, both of Hollister; three grandsons, Jacob Norris and Kyle and Ethan Freand; her mother, Mary L. He married Martha Mae Burch born 4-1-1911, and died 9-4-2005. They were married 4-2-1932. She was the daughter of Jacob and Emeline (Dunham) Burch and they lived in Kane, IL. Her father Jacob Burch was born 5-12-1865, and died 11-6-1935. He was the son of George and Jane (Harvill) Burch. His wife Emeline Burch was born 1873 and died in 1956. They are both buried at Lax Cemetery, English Township, Jersey County, IL. ---------------------- Henry Freand's wife Martha Mae (Burch) Freand's obituary - Martha Mae Freand, 94, died at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at Greenwood Manor Nursing Home in Jerseyville. She was born on April 1, 1911, on the family farm that she still resided on west of Kane. She was the last surviving child of the late Jacob and Rachel Emeline (Dunham) Burch. She grew up in the country and for a short time worked at the International Shoe Factory in Jerseyville. An independent woman, she dedicated herself to the principles of hard work, good ethics and helping others. She found true happiness working with her hands, whether it was in the fields, her garden or knitting afghans for various family members. Surviving are many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Henry Freand; three brothers, Harry, Fred and Ross Burch; and two sisters, Faye McAdams and Ellen Freand. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Father William Hembrow will officiate. Ringhausen of Jerseyville; two grandchildren, Marilyn Kay and Charles Ambrose of Coppell, Texas and Stanley Alan Ringhausen of Godfrey; and one great-granddaughter, Laura Kay Ambrose. Besides her parents and husband, preceding her in death was a son, John W. Ozee; a brother, J. Arleigh Reed; and two sisters, Bernice Hart and Lela Burch. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. Allynn Walker will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oasis Sunday School class at Main St. United Methodist Church in Alton.
