Frank Kraushaar Sr.

Continued from Related Families Page 2 information about the descendants of Frank Kraushaar Sr. who was my mother's grandfather on her father's side (My great grandfather). Frank Kraushaar Sr. was born about 1836 in Prussia, Germany. He came to America and settled in the Jersey County, Illinois area in about 1860. He and his wife Julia were listed in the Jersey County, IL 1860 census for Richwood Township. The Kraushaar name is misspelled Krausse or Crouser in some of the old census and other records. The 1860 census said he was a shoemaker. He later became a farmer in the Fieldon, IL area. He died in Sept. 1879 on his farm near Fieldon, English Township, Jersey County, IL. He married Julia Anna Albert. She was born about 1842 in Prussia, Germany. She died about 1900 on farm near Fieldon, IL. They had 9 children--Frank Kraushaar Jr., Joseph Kraushaar, John Kraushaar, Charles Kraushaar (my mother's father), Anna Kraushaar, Rosa Kraushaar, Mary C. Kraushaar, Josephine Kraushaar, and Elizabeth Kraushaar. After my great grandfather Frank Kraushaar Sr's death his wife Julia (Albert) Kraushaar remarried to William Weisner 5-19-1881 and they had 2 daughters, half sisters to my mother's father, Catherine Weisner and Lena Weisner.

(4) Frank and Julia (Albert) Kraushaar's son Charles Kraushaar was my mother's father and my grandfather. Charles Kraushaar was born 7-4-1875 near Fieldon, English Township, Jersey County, IL. He died 11-23-1948 in Jerseyville, Jersey County, IL. He married Caroline H. Haushalter 4-14-1898, was the daughter of George and Margaret (Schiller) Haushalter. She was born 7-14-1881 near Fieldon, Jersey County, IL. She died 7-17-1937 in Jerseyville, Jersey County, IL. Charles and Caroline (Haushalter) Kraushaar had 4 childen-Elizabeth Kraushaar, Freda Kraushaar, Lovie Kraushaar (my mother), and Raymond Kraushaar.

My mother Lovie (Kraushaar) Westfall's father, and my grandfather, Charles Kraushaar's obituary - Charles Kraushaar, a retired farmer of Jerseyville, died suddenly at his home here Sunday evening, November 23, 1948 at eight fifty-five o'clock. An inquest was conducted by Coroner H. W. Gubser Monday evening and death was atributed to natural causes, acute dilation of the heart. Members of the jury were Clem Schleper, B. A. Marsden, jr., Fred woolsey, Edward McGowen, S. E. Stroud, and Aron Cope. Members of the Kraushaar household testified that the deceased had complained of difficulty breathing Sunday, but his condition was not considered critical. He was fatally stricken about eight forty-five o'clock and died before a physician could be summoned.

Mr. Kraushaar was the son of the late Frank and Julia (Albert) Kraushaar, and was born near Fieldon, July 4, 1875. He has resided in Jersey County all of his life. Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. John Horn of Caseyville and Mrs. Edward Westfall of Fieldon, and one son, Raymond Kraushaar of Jerseyville; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held at the Gubser Funeral Home Wednesday, November 26, at two o'clock. The Reverand V. D. Gibson of Alton officiated and interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Charles Kraushaar's wife, my mother Lovie (Kraushaar) Westfall's mother, and my grandmother, Caroline (Haushalter) Kraushaar's obituary - Mrs. Caroline H. Kraushaar died Tuesday, July 27, 1937 at her home in Jerseyville, Ill. at 7:00 p.m. aged 56 years and 13 days. She was the beloved wife of Charles Kraushaar. Funeral services will be held at Jacoby Brothers' Chapel Thursday, July 29th, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. George R. Vawter officiating. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery.

(1a) Charles and Caroline (Haushalter) Kraushaar's daughter Elizabeth M. Kraushaar was born 4-12-1899 in English Township, Jersey County, IL. She died 9-29-1976 in Iowa. She was married to John P. Horn in 1-1-1920. He was the son of Philip and Emma (Doll) Horn. John Horn was born 4-8-1896 in East Saint Louis, St. Clair County, IL. He died 2-6-1981 in Waverly, Iowa. He was in the Military Service in the U. S. Army and was a World War I Veteran. John Horn's father Philip Horn was born in Germany 6-14-1865, and died 12-28-1927 in East Saint Louis, IL. He was a stone mason. John Horn's mother Emma (Doll) Horn was from Lebanon, IL. She died in 1898 shortly after the birth of John's brother George Horn. John and Elizabeth (Kraushaar) Horn had one daughter Mary Alice Horn.

Elizabeth (Kraushaar) Horn's obituary - Mrs. John Horn, 77, 201 Iowa, Waverly, Iowa, passed away Wednesday nigt, September 29, 1976 at the Waverly Municipal Hospital where she had been a patient for 10 days. Elizabeth M. Kraushaar was born July 12, 1899 in Fieldon, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Caroline (Haushalter) Kraushaar. On July 1st 1920 she was united in marriage to John P. Horn in East St. Louis, Ill. The couple lived in East St. Louis until 1939 when they moved to Caseyville, Ill. In 1964 they moved to Waverly. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Waverly.

Survivers include her husband, John, one daughter, Mary, Mrs. Earl Gibson of Shell Rock, Ia., one sister, Mrs. Lovie Westfall of Pearl, Ill., nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 2, 1;30 p.m. at the Grace Baptist Church in Waverly with the Rev. Royce Wolden officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar Falls.The Kaiser-Carson Funeral Home in Waverly is in charge of arrangements.

Her burial was in Mount Vernon Township Cemetery, in Waterloo, IA. Mary Alice Horn married Earl H. Gibson June 13, 1947. He was born December 23, 1921, in East St. Louis, Illinois, the son of Earl H. and Agnes E. (Martin) Gibson Sr. He died June 24, 1993 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, IA. His burial was in Mount Vernon Township Cemetery, in Waterloo, IA. He farmed in Iowa. He was in the Military Service and was a U. S. Air Force Veteran. Earl and Mary Alice (Horn) Gibson had 9 children-Mona Gibson married Albert F. Rahlf, the son of Albert and Velma Rahlf of New Hampton, IA, and lives in Waterloo, Iowa; Stuart Gibson married Tari and lives in Woodstock, Georgia; Laura Gibson married Larry Miller and lives in Fairfield, Iowa; Duane Gibson married Julie and lives in Shell Rock, Iowa; Wylene Gibson married Gregory Heidorn and lives in Rochester, Minnesota; Peggy Gibson married Allen Jacobs and lives in Jefferson, Iowa; Karen Gibson married Ray Johnson and lives in Belgrade, Montana; Kent Gibson married Brenda and lives in Denver, Iowa; and Brad Gibson married Becky and lives in Charles City, Iowa---John and Elizabeth (Kraushaar) Horn lived in Caseyville, IL where he worked at a steel mill in St. Louis, MO, and later retired in Iowa near their daughter Mary Alice (Horn) Gibson.

Mary A. (Horn) Gibson's obituary - Mary Alice Gibson, 79, of Denver, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008 at Allen Hospital, Waterloo. She was born March 31, 1929, in East St. Louis, Ill., daughter of John P. and Elizabeth Kraushaar Horn. She married Earl Gibson on June 13, 1947. He died in June 1993. Mrs. Gibson and her husband farmed near Shell Rock from 1953 until retiring in 1985.

Survived by: five daughters, Mona (Albert) Rahlf of Waterloo, Wylene (Gregory) Heidorn of Rochester, Minn., Laura (Larry) Miller of Fairfield, Peggy (Allen) Jacobs of Jefferson and sons, Stuart (Tari) of Woodstock, Ga., Duane (Julie) of Shell Rock, Kent (Brenda) of Denver and and Brad (Becky) of Charles City; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services: 3 p.m. Sunday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with burial in Mount Vernon Township Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Public visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Kaiser Corson Funeral Home, Denver, and for an hour before services at the church. Memorials: may be directed to the family. (1aaa) John and Elizabeth (Kraushaar) Horn's granddaughter and their daughter Mary Alice (Horn) Gibson's daughter Mona (Gibson) Rahlf and her husband Albert Rahlf's 40th wedding anniversary announcement - Albert and Mona Rahlf will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with a family trip to Lake Superior for a sea kayaking excursion. A card shower is also planned. Albert Fred Rahlf and Mona Cara Gibson were married June 27, 1970, at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton. Mr. Rahlf is a substance abuse counselor at Pathways Behavioral Services, and Mrs. Rahlf is a registered nurse working in ambulatory at Allen Hospital. Their family includes children Jon Rahlf of Decorah and Annette Geary of Denver, along with four grandchildren.

(2aaa) John and Elizabeth (Kraushaar) Horn's grandson and their daughter Mary Alice (Horn) Gibson's son Stuart Gibson's wife Teresa "Tari" (Scott) Gibson's father Philip Edgar Scott's obituary - Philip Scott, 81, of Lehigh, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City. Phil's body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2011, at the Christian Church in Lehigh. Pastor Richard Laird will officiate. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh with Military Graveside Rites presented by the Donald Harper Post #5720 V.F.W. Visitation will be Friday, from noon until the time of services at the Christian Church in Lehigh. Carson-Stapp Funeral Home, Dayton, is in charge of arrangements. Philip Edgar Scott was born on May 21, 1930, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Anson and Genevieve (DeGriselles) Scott. He attended country schools in Minnesota. At the age of 17, Phil enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Tingey. In 1957, Phil was united in marriage to LaRita Marlene Vladeff. To this union four children were born: Tamara, Teresa, Thomas, and Troy. Phil and LaRita later divorced. In his earlier years Phil worked at the Lehigh Lumberyard and later worked for Webster County Road Maintenance.Phil belonged to the Donald Harper Post #5720 V.F.W. His hobbies included woodworking and collecting belt buckles. He also enjoyed drinking coffee and playing cards in downtown Lehigh.

Survivors include four children, Tamara Scott of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Teresa Gibson of Canton, Georgia, Thomas (Cindy) Scott of Vadnais Heights, Minn., and Troy (Penny) Scott of Lehigh, Iowa; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five sisters, Pauline (Verneal) Goertz of Canton, Minn., Betty Scott of Superior, Wis., Ruth (Bob) Shuman of Keokuk, Iowa, Margaret Efner of Worthington, Minn., and Mary (Lawrence) Weigers of Long Prairie, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David Scott; and his grandson, Kody Philip Scott.Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

(2a) Charles and Caroline (Haushalter) Kraushaar's daughter Freda Kraushaar was born 1-13-1902 in English Township, Jersey County, IL. She died 3-16-1946 in Jersey County, IL. She died of cancer when only 44. She married William A. Hewitt 9-7-1922. William A. Hewitt was born 5-5-1884 in Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL and died 5-12-1936 in Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL. He was the son of John G. and Mary (McManus) Hewitt. His father John G. Hewitt was born 10-12-1840 in East St. Louis, IL, and died 6-25-1923 in Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL, and was the son of Eliphalet and Martha (Stites) Hewitt. William A. Hewitt's mother Mary (McManus) Hewitt was born 4-17-1856 in English Township, Jersey County, IL, died 12-20-1921 in Otter Creek Township, Jersey County, IL. She was the daughter of Thomas and Jane (Dabbs) McManus. John and Mary (McManus) Hewitt had 6 children-William A. Hewitt Sr, Fred Hewitt, Leonard Hewitt, Martha Hewitt, Maggie Hewitt, and Kate Hewitt.

John and Mary (McManus) Hewitt's son William A. Hewitt Sr. married Freda Kraushaar and they lived on a farm in Union Forest area of Jersey County, IL.

Freda (Kraushaar) Hewitt's obituary - Mrs. Freda Hewitt of the Union Forest vicinity died Saturday morning, March 16, 1946 at 1;50 o'clock at St. Joseph's Hospital in Alton where she had been for treatment for the last seven weeks. Mrs. Hewitt was the daughter of Charles Kraushaar of Jerseyville, and the late Mrs. Caroline (Haushalter) Kraushaar, and was born in Jersey Conty on January 13, 1902. Her age at the time of death was 44 years, 2 months, and 3 days. Mrs. Hewitt was the widow of William A. Hewitt and until recently had operated a farm in the Union Forest vicinity.

Surviving Mrs. Hewitt are one daughter, Miss Helen Hewitt, and one son William Hewitt, both of Fieldon; her father, Charles Kraushaar of Jerseyville; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Horn of Caseyville and Mrs. Lovie Westfall of Fieldon; and one brother, Raymond Kraushaar of Jerseyville. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, March 18, at two o'clock at Jacoby Brothers' Chapel in Jerseyville. Reverand Vernel Gibson of Collinsville officiated and interment was in White Cemetery.

Army and was a World War II Veteran. James William Wahl and Helen (Hewitt) Wahl married 2-8-1947 in Jersey County, IL. James William Wahl and Helen (Hewitt) Wahl had 4 sons-James Wahl, Alan Wahl, Richard Wahl, and Robert Joseph Wahl who married Amy Janine Schaake, the daughter of Eldon and Linda Schaake of Jerseyville, IL, and a daughter Pamela Ann Wahl. Pamela Ann Wahl married Louis Blackorby and lives in the Franklin, IL area.

He was in the Military Service and was a U. S. Marine Corps Korean War Veteran. He married Dolores Fayollat and they had 4 children-William (Willy) Hewitt, Robert Hewitt, Rebecca Hewitt, and Lisa Hewitt. He worked on railroad in the East Saint Louis, IL area. Later after illness retired to Tampa, Florida.

She died 3-19-1995 in Pittsfield, Pike County, IL. She married Walter Edward Westfall born 4-4-1897 in Jersey County, IL. (He usually went by his middle name Ed) He was the son of Jasper Mifflin Westfall and Frances (McCaulley) Westfall. He farmed in the Fieldon, IL area. He was in the Military Service in the U. S. Army and was a World War I Veteran. He died 3-17-1977 in Pittsfield, Pike County, IL. Walter Edward Westfall and Lovie (Kraushaar) Westfall married 2-26-1921 in Alton, Madison County, IL. Walter Edward Westfall and Lovie (Kraushaar) Westfall had 2 children-Mildred Westfall and Walter Westfall.

My mother, Charles and Caroline (Haushalter) Kraushaar's daughter, wife of my father Walter Edward Westfall, Lovie (Kraushaar) Westfall's obituary - Lovie K. Westfall, 91, died Sunday, March 19, 1995 at Clarkston Court Nursing Home in Pittsfield. She had previously lived in Pearl and Fieldon. She was a homemaker born Feb. 10, 1904 in Jersey County near Fieldon, a daughter of the late Charles and Caroline (Haushalter) Kraushaar. She married Walter Edward Westfall in Alton Feb. 21, 1921, and he died March 17, 1977.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law Mildred and Joseph Alben of Godfrey; and a son Walter C. Westfall of Pearl; a grandson Russell Thompson of Wood River; three great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Elizabeth Horn and Freda Hewitt; and a brother Raymond Kraushaar preceded her in death. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Wednesday until service time at 2 p.pm. at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, Robert Kendall will officiate. Burial will be at Grimes-Neely Cemetary west of Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

My father, husband of my mother Lovie (Kraushaar) Westfall, Walter Edward Westfall's obituary - Walter Edward Westfall, R.R. 1, Pearl, formerly of the Fieldon area, died at 2 p.m. March 17, 1977 at Illini Hospital in Pittsfield. He was born April 4, 1897 in Jersey County, the son of Jasper and Frances (McCaulley) Westfall. He was a veteran of World War I, and a retired farmer.

He is survived by his wife Lovie (Kraushaar) Westfall whom he married in February of 1921, a daughter Mrs. Joseph (Mildred) Alben of Godfrey; a son Walter C. Westfall of Pearl; a sister Mrs. Anna Pitt of Jerseyville; two brothers, Floyd Westfall of Medora and Jasper Westfall of Alton; a half sister Eva Haag of Alton; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1;30 p.m. March 19 at Gubser's Funeral Home with Brother Joseph Rowlett of the Christian Church of Pearl officiating. Burial was in Grimes-Neely Cemetery, rural Jerseyville. The family designated the American Diabetic Association as a memorial.

(1aa) Walter Edward Westfall and Lovie (Kraushaar) Westfall's daughter Mildred Marie Westfall was born 4-20-1922 in Alton, Madison County, IL. She was married first to Russell Thompson, son of Logan and Viola (Bowers) Thompson, and had a son Russell Edward Thompson born 8-22-1937 near Fieldon, Jersey County, IL. Russell Thompson married Lois DeBoard born 12-12-1939, the daughter of Adolph and Pearl (Morris) DeBoard. Lois's father Adolph Maxwell DeBoard was born 11-9-1918 in Norris City, IL, and died 7-25-2006 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, IL. He was the son of Charles and Ethel (Hughy) DeBoard. He was an operating engineer for 37 years with Shell Oil Refinery, retiring in 1977, and a WWII Army Veteran. He married Pearl Morris 5-10-1938 in Kentucky. Lois's mother Pearl (Morris) DeBoard is the daughter of Clifford Keasler Morris and his 1st wife Lily Davis. Adolph and Pearl (Morris) DeBoard had 3 children-Lois DeBoard who married Russell Thompson of East Alton, IL, Sherrell DeBoard who married Frank Ulett of Godfrey, IL, and Mark DeBoard of Fairbanks, Alaska.

Russell and his wife Lois (DeBoard) Thompson live near Mildred in the Alton, IL area. Russell and Lois (DeBoard) Thompson had 3 children-Terri Thompson, Melanie Thompson, and Lesley Thompson.

Michael and Terri (Thompson) Harvey's son Nicholas James Harvey married Rhianon Ranelle Sharp 7-7-2007 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harrell Sharp.

(2aaa) Russell and Lois (DeBoard) Thompson's daughter Melanie Thompson was born 4-24-1962 in Wood River, Madison County, IL. She married first to Dale Wayne Doolen the son of E. Eugene and Mary (Siddens) Doolen of Rosewood Heights, IL, and they had a daughter Jenna Doolen born 9-17-1987 in Alton, Madison County, IL. Melanie's second husband was David Moore son of Virgil and Dorothy (Collier) Moore of Belleville, IL and they had a son Tyler Jordan Moore born 10-2-1993 in Alton, Madison County, IL.

Melanie's first husband and Jenna's father Dale Wayne Doolen's father - E. Eugene Doolen, 71, of Rosewood Heights, died Nov. 6, 2000, in Alton Memorial Hospital. He married Mary Siddens, who survives. Also surviving are sons, Terry of Bethalto, and Dale of East Alton; a daughter, Genia Ruckman of Rosewood Heights; and a sister, Vivian Collier of Shobonier. Services were in Gent Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.

(3aaa) Russell and Lois (DeBoard) Thompson's daughter Lesley Thompson was born 10-10-1965 in Wood River, Madison County, IL. She was married first to Brad Heacox, and they had a daughter Alexis Heacox born 9-2-1987 in Alton, Madison County, IL. Lesley's second husband is Alan Kolesa and they have a daughter Lily Kolesa born 4-20-2000 in East Alton, Madison County, IL.

Walter Edward Westfall and Lovie (Kraushaar) Westfall's daughter Mildred Westfall later married Joseph Alben. He was born 2-18-1912 in Madison County, IL. They got married 11-11-1944 in Madison County, IL. Joe passed away Feb. 17, 2000 just one day before his 88th birthday. He was the son of John and Lucia (Virgo) Alben. He retired from working at a steel mill in Alton, IL. He was in the Military Service in the U. S. Army and was a World War II Veteran.

Mildred was also married to Buddy Flore. He was from Calhoun County, IL and they lived in Hardin, IL in Calhoun County during the marriage. They got married about 1940 and were only married for a brief time. After the marriage ended he entered the military service and was killed in action during World War II.

(4a) Charles and Caroline (Haushalter) Kraushaar's son Raymond Charles Kraushaar was born 11-22-1906 in English Township, Jersey County, IL. He died 11-15-1975 in Jerseyville, Jersey County, IL. He had 2 sons-Clifford G. Kraushaar from his first wife Evelyn Young and Victor C. Kraushaar from his second wife Mildred Adams. Raymond Kraushaar's first wife Evelyn (Young) Kraushaar was born in Jersey County, IL 1-16-1909 and died in Jerseyville 10-12-1991. She was the daughter of Phillip and Stella May (Hunt) Young. She is buried in Kane Cemetery. Raymond Kraushaar's second wife Mildred (Adams) Kraushaar was born in Chesterfield, IL Oct. 1, 1925, the daughter of the late William and Mahala "Ann" (Taylor) Adams. She died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jerseyville, IL. Her burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, IL. Raymond Kraushaar worked at grain elevator in Jerseyville, IL. His son Clifford Kraushaar also worked there until he retired in 1995.

Raymond Charles Kraushaar's obituary - Final services for Raymond Charles kraushaar, 68, of 1008 Warren St., Jerseyville were held Nov. 17, 1975 at Jacoby Funeral Home with the Rev. Dorcie Hill officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery. His death occured at 8:15 a.m. on Nov. 15 at the Jersey Community Hospital. A retired truck driver, he was born Nov. 22, 1906 in Fieldon, a son of Charles and Caroline (Haushalter) Kraushaar. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge.

His survivors are his widow, Mrs. Mildred (Adams) Kraushaar; two sons, Clifford and Victor of Jerseyville; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Lovie Westfall of Pearl and Lizzie Horn of Waverly, Iowa. His parents and one sister preceded him in death. The family designated the Heart Fund as a memorial.

Raymond Charles Kraushaar's first wife Evelyn (Young) Kraushaar's obituary - Evelyn Kraushaar, 82, died at 10:12 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 1991, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton. Born in Greene County Jan. 16, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Stella May (Hunt) Young.

Surviving are a son Clifford G. Kraushaar of Otterville; seven granchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Elknah Mowrey of Dutzow, MO., Ada Hartwick of Carrollton, Lola Ethel of Athens and Betty Birch of Jerseyville; and three brothers, Phillip T. Young of Carrollton, Allen T. Young of Jerseyville and Harold Young of Rockbridge. A sister Dorothy Garahan preceded her in death. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Jacoby-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Larry Hayes will officiate. Burial is in Kane Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God Church of Jerseyvile, where she was a member.

Raymond Charles Kraushaar's second wife Mildred B. (Adams) Kraushaar's obituary - Mildred B. Kraushaar, 83, died at 8:10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Chesterfield Oct. 1, 1925, the daughter of the late William and Mahala "Ann" (Taylor) Adams. She was raised with her siblings on a farm near Chesterfield. She married Raymond Kraushaar and they resided in Jerseyville for many years until his death on Nov. 10, 1975. She was widely known in Jerseyville, where she worked in various establishments including the Diner, American Legion and for many years worked as a sales clerk at the Discount House. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the ladies auxiliaries at the VFW and American Legion, all in Jerseyville.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Victor and Janet Kraushaar of Jerseyville; two granddaughters and their spouses, Nancy and Carl Clifford of Carrollton and Vickie and Ty Johnson of Jerseyville; four great-grandchildren, David, Jeremy and Dylan Clifford and Tyler Johnson; a brother, Robert Adams of Hardin; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Clara Woods of Alton and Georgia and Samuel Abbott of Carrollton. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, William Burnett; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Rose Marie Adams and Hazel and William Abbott; and three brothers, William, Willis "Junior" and Harry "Bud" Adams. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

(1aaa) Clifford and Marilyn (Baker) Kraushaar's daughter Kimberley (Kraushaar) Dixon's husband Melvin Lee Dixon's obituary - Melvin Lee Dixon, 66, died suddenly at 6:21 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at the scene of an automobile accident just north of Otterville on Otterville Road. He was born on Oct. 28, 1944, in Calhoun County, one of four children born to Milo and Zoe (Pegram) Dixon. Melvin graduated in 1964 from Calhoun High School in Hardin, and held various jobs in the local factories before accepting employment with the City of Jerseyville, where he served with the police department for 16 years. He then began over the road truck driving, and was currently employed as a driver and hauler for A&F Trucking in Jerseyville. Melvin served several terms on the Otterville Town Board and was a member of the Jerseyville Elks Lodge, National Rifle Association, and enjoyed restoring cars and riding Harley Davidsons. He married the former Kimberley Kraushaar on Nov. 3, 1981, in Alton, and they soon were to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary.

In addition to his wife, surviving are four children and their spouses, Steve and Julia Dixon of Fieldon, Sandra and Robert Lenington of Goodfield, Pamela Sue Dixon of Niagra Falls, N.Y., and Nathan and Melissa Lueker of Andalusia, Ill.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Karrick of Jerseyville and Mary Lou Briggs of Virginia state; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clifford and Marilyn Kraushaar of Otterville. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Stephanie Frank; a brother, Milton Dixon; and a brother-in-law, Clyde Briggs. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24. The Rev. John Gibson of the Eastland Baptist Church in Jerseyville will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Noble Cemetery in Otterville. Memorials may be given to the family in care of the funeral home.

Mr. Chevalley, 53, died December 30, 2011 at his home. He was born December 10, 1958 in Alton, the son of the late Robert and Imogene (Logan) Chevalley. He married the former Evelyn Kraushaar in 1979. He was raised in Chautauqua and was a 1977 graduate of Jersey Community High School. He was a machinist by trade and had worked at Al-Co in St. Louis and Puhlmann Manufacturing in Chesterfield, Missouri and has been employed at Olin Corp. for the last 12 years. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Michelle (Mark) Heitzman of Otterville; three granddaughters; several extended family and friends. At his request, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

(1aaaa) Clifford and Marilyn (Baker) Kraushaar's granddaughter, and their daughter Evelyn (Kraushaar) Chevalley's daughter Jessica Louise Chevalley's obituary - Jessica Louise Chevalley, 30, died unexpectedly at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at her residence. She was born in Alton on Jan. 8, 1981, the youngest of two daughters born to Lawrence and Evelyn (Kraushaar) Chevalley. Jessica attended Jersey Community High School and graduated with the class of 1999, where she obtained academic honors. She worked for a short time at Dawn's In Town Grooming in Jerseyville, but for the most part, she enjoyed staying at home listening to music on her iPod, reading or being on her computer. Jessica was very loved and was a wonderful daughter, sister and was a very proud and doting aunt to her three nieces. She enjoyed her life, as her entire life was spent surrounded by those that loved her most and loved her dearly.

Surviving are her parents, Larry and Evelyn Chevalley of Otterville; a sister and brother-in-law, Michelle and Mark Heitzman Jr. of Otterville; three nieces, Brittany, Autumn and Stephanie Heitzman; her grandparents, Clifford and Marilyn Kraushaar of Otterville, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert and Imogene Chevalley. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18. Nathan Lueker will officiate. Burial will be in the Noble Cemetery in Otterville. Memorials may be given to the family in care of Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

(Barber) Prough's obituary - Juanita Evelyn Prough, 88, of Carrollton, died at 8:55 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. Born in Roodhouse on Jan. 8, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Claude and Nellie Mae (Robinson) Barber. She married Thomas H. Prough on July 19, 1947, in Roodhouse and he preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1991. Surviving are her three children, Janet (Vic) Kraushaar of Jerseyville, Tom (Linda) Prough and Mary Ann (Bob) Richey of Carrollton; five grandchildren, Nancy (Carl) Clifford, Vickie (Ty) Johnson, Christopher Steinacher, Benjamin Thomas Prough, Andrew Prough; seven great-grandchildren, David, Jeremy, Dylan, Josie, Klayton, Tyler and Carson; and a great-grandchild, Brody.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were a grandchild, Ryan Prough; two sisters, Alice Buster, Niada Neff; and a brother, Charles Barber. Juanita graduated from Roodhouse High School. She was a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed talking to her friends on the phone, watching TV, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Services will be held at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in the Carrollton City Cemetery. (5) Frank and Julia (Albert) Kraushaar's daughter Anna Kraushaar was born in 1877 near Fieldon in English Township, Jersey County, IL, and she died in 1960 in Jerseyville, Jersey County, IL. She married 1-7-1919 John Carroll. He was born in 1879, and died in 1938 in Jerseyville, Jersey County, IL. They had no children. They both worked at a shoe factory in Jerseyville. They are both buried at St. Francis Cemetery in Jerseyville.
