In The Garden

Hymn by C. Austin Miles

I come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses;
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear;
The Son of God discloses.

He speaks and the sound of his voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me,
Within my heart is ringing.

I'd stay in the garden with Him
Tho' the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; Thru the voice of woe,
His voice to me is calling.

And he walks with me,
And he talks with me,
And he tells me I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

The Lily Of The Valley--Hymn

I have found a friend in Jesus,
He's everything to me,
He's the fairest of ten thousand to my soul;
The Lily of the valley,
In Him alone I see
All I need to make me fully whole.
In sorrow He's my comfort,
In trouble He's my stay,
He tells me every care on Him to roll.

He all my griefs has taken,
And all my sorrows borne;
In temptation He's my strong and mighty tower:
I have all for him forsaken,
And all my idols torn from my heart,
And now He keeps by his power.
Though all the world forsake me,
And Satan tempt me sore,
Through Jesus I shall safely reach the goal.

He will never, never leave me,
Nor yet forsake me here,
While I live by faith and do His blessed will;
A wall of fire about me,
I've nothing now to fear,
With His manna He my hungry soul shall fill.
Then sweeping up to glory
To see His blessed face,
Where rivers of delight shall ever roll.

He's the Lily of the valley,
The bright and morning star,
He's the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.

Reflect ion

A Poem by Jackie Jackman

I ask myself when day is done,
Have I, this day, hurt anyone?
Have I offended friend or foe,
By lack of sympathy to show?

Have I heeded gossip, and passed it on,
Thereby an innocent soul, perhaps, having wronged?
Have I been narrow-minded in thought and deed,

As I reflect upon the passing day,
My heart turns to God, and I humbly pray
For more grace to meet the new tomorrow,
And a heart full of love to help someone in sorrow.

Sweet By And By--Hymn
Copyright,19 10, by Joan H. Webster

There 's a land that is fairer than day,
And by faith I can see it afar:
For the father waits over the way,
To prepare us a dwelling place there.

We shall sing on that beautiful shore
Tha melodious songs of the blest,
And our spirits shall sorrow no more,
Not a sigh for the blessing of rest.

To our bountiful father above,
We will offer our tribute of praise,
For the glorious gift of His love,
And the blessings that hallow our days.

In the sweet by and by,
We shall meet on that beautiful shore;
In the sweet by and by,
We shall meet on that beautiful shore.

Peace, Be Still

A Poem by M. Elizabeth Coulson

I found a spot of beauty rare,
Both God and nature lingered there,
And in the quiet of the hill
I heard God whisper,"Peace, be still."

In the deep arch of blue above
I read of His unbounded love,
While in the murmur of the breeze,
The gentle rustle of the trees

I heard His voice speak low and sweet:
"Fear not, my child, go forth and meet
Life squarely, for it is My will,
Receive My blessing: "Peace, be still."

Pass Me Not--Hymn

by W. H. Doane

Pass me not, O gentle savior,
Hear my humble cry,
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

Let me at Thy throne of mercy
Find a sweet relief;
Kneeling there in deep contrition,
Help my unbelief.

Trusting only in Thy merit,
Would I seek Thy face;
Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
Save me by Thy grace.

Thou the spring of all my comfort,
More than life to me,
Whom have I on earth beside Thee?
Whom in heaven but Thee?

Savior, Savior, Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

So Little--Poem--by Ida Goldsmith Morris

It takes so little to make us sad--
Just a slighting word, or a doubted sneer,
Just a scornful smile on some lips held dear,
And our footsteps lag, tho' the goal seemed near,
And we lose the courage and hope we had--
So little it takes to make us sad!
It takes so little to make us glad--
Just a cheering clasp of a friendly hand,

Just a word from one who can understand,
And we finish the task we long had planned,
And we lose the doubt and the fear we had--
So little it takes to make us glad!

Softly And Tenderly--Hymn

by Will L. Thompson

Soft ly and tenderly Jesus is calling,
Calling to you and to me;
See, on the portals He's waiting and watching,
Watching for you and for me.

Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading,
Pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not His mercies,
Mercies for you and for me?

Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing,
Passing for you and for me;
Shadows are gathering, deathbeds are coming,
Coming for you and for me.

Oh! for the wonderful love He has promised,
Promised for you and for me;
Tho' we have sinned, He has mercy and pardon,

Come home,....Come home....
Ye who are weary, come home;...
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!

I Would Rather Have A Little Rose

Poem--Author Unknown

I would rather have a little rose
From the garden of a friend,
Than to have the choicest flowers
When my stay on earth must end.

I would rather have a pleasant word
In kindness said to me
Than flattery when my heart is still
And this life has ceased to be.

I would rather have a loving smile
From friends I know are true,
Than tears shed round my casket
When this world I bid Adieu.

She Loved To Laugh--Poem--Author Unknown

She loved to laugh, and some way, she
Woke others to a sense of glee,
And many found, when she was near,
An unaccustomed note of cheer

In everything they heard, or saw;
It seemed some undiscovered law,
Which made dull things of every day
Reflect her bearing, blithe and gay!

She loved to laugh, and when she came,
A flicker, as of happy flame,
Sprang swiftly up, re-echoing,
As one bird's song makes others sing.

O, laughter is a blessed gift,
Heals many a hurt, mends many a rift;
She loved to laugh, and so she lent
To other lives her merriment.

Wh at A Friend--Hymn

by Charles C. Converse

What a friend we have in Jusus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trails and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jusus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He'll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.

Just As I Am-Hymn-Anonymous

Just as I am,---without one plea,
But that thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bid'st me come to Thee,---
O Lamb of God, I come! I come!

Just as I am,---and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot,
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,---
O Lamb of God, I come! I come!

Just as I am,---though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fightings within, and fears without,---
O Lamb of God, I come! I come!

Just as I am,---poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind,
Yea, all I need, in Thee to find,---
O Lamb of God, I come! I come!
p>Just as I am,---Thou wilt receive;
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,---
O Lamb of God, I come! I come!

Just as I am,---Thy love unknown
Has broken every barrier down;
Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,---
O Lamb of God, I come! I come!

A Gentle Word--Author Unknown

One gentle word that we may speak
Or one kind, loving deed,
May, though a trifle, poor and weak
Prove like a tiny seed;
And who can tell what good may spring
From such a very little thing?
