Mrs. Clara M. Cummings

Died 03-01-1988. Clara M. Cummings, 97, formerly of Greene County, died at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, 1988, at Jersey Community Hospital, Jerseyville. Born in Greene County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary E. Price Walter. She married Ornan Cummings on Oct. 25, 1911. He died in 1965.

Surviving are six daughters, Jessie Sponsler of Tuscolla, Ill., Geraldine Krauschaar of Eldred, Wilma Thorton of Greenfield, Viola McCormick of Mulberry Grove, Mabel Rutherford of Rock Falls, Ill., and Imogene Cook of Propletown, Ill., two sons, Howard Cummings of Delhi and Ornan Cummings of Rock Falls; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a brother Charles Walters of Eldred. She was preceded in death by three sister, two brothers, two sons, a daughter , a grandchild, a great grandchild, and a great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Airsman - Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Daniel Meade. Burial will be in Borlin Cemetery near Carrollton., Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Tessie "Katie" Beiermann

Tessie "Katie" Beiermann, 78, died at 8:42 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2005, at her residence. She was born in Medora, Ill., on Jan. 18, 1927, the daughter of James and Stella L. (Eyer) Wayman. A self-employed business owner, she spent many years in Sebastian, Fla., before relocating to Jerseyville recently. She enjoyed her memberships in the Women of the Moose, American Legion Auxiliary, Ladies of the Elks, as well as gardening, flowers and golf.

She is survived by a daughter, Jeanette Marie (Bell) Price of Jerseyville; three grandchildren and their spouses, John Douglas Price of Black Diamond, Wash., Theresa and Mark Berry of Paris, Ark., and Melissa and Robert Freand of Jerseyville; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred "Dinky" Story of Carrollton. She was preceded in death by her parents; a great-grandchild, Eric Price; four sisters, Ethal Mae Ferguson, Eva White, Ann Kraushaar and Margaret Kuelbs; and three brothers, Lee, Marion "Pete" and James Wayman.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville with Father William Hembrow officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Leonard F. Vinyard

Died 25-01-1981. The funeral of Leonard F. Vinyard, 50, of 409 McGill St., Jerseyville will be held at 1:30 pm Tuesday at the Church of Christ with the Rev. Boyd Goodson officiating. Burial will be in the Carrollton city cemetery. He died at 2:33 pm January 25 at Greenwood Manor Nursing Home. Born in Carrollton, he was a son of Archie and Nora (Kane) Vinyard.

His survivors are his wife, the former Mary Stocks; father; 4 brothers, William, Independence, Missouri, Thomas, Carrollton, Earl, Eldred and Mike, Hogansville, Georgia; 2 sisters Rosella Kraushaar and Melba Isringhausen of Jerseyville. Visitation from 4-9 pm Monday at Jacoby Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sharon K. "Kay" Pruitt

Sharon K. "Kay" Pruitt, 57, died unexpectedly at 4:02 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2006, in a traffic accident in Jersey County. She was born Dec. 19, 1948, in Eldred to Sherman and Rosaella (Vinyard) Kraushaar. She was a waitress at Joe K's Restaurant (formerly Depper's) in Alton for more than nine years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She spent much of her recent time caring for her ailing mother and elderly father. She was an avid animal lover and cared for three dogs of her own. She had a zest for life and will be sadly missed by all.

Survivors include her parents; two daughters and sons-in-law, Penny and David Holtgraewe of Columbia, Mo., and Tammy and Robert Hudanick of Alton; one son, Jeffrey Pruitt of O'Fallon, Mo.; her children's father, Robert L. Pruitt of Godfrey; two grandchildren, Carmen and Drew Holgraewe; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Shirley Davidsmeyer of Carrollton, Connie and Joseph Pruitt of Godfrey and Bonnie Kinder of Golden Eagle; a brother, Sherman Kraushaar of Jerseyville; and her significant other, John Hayes of Alton.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Elias-Smith Funeral Homes and Crematory in Godfrey, where Father Jim Walther will conduct services at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Alton. Memorials are suggested to the 5A's Humane Society.

Mrs. Rosella Marie Kraushaar

Rosella Marie Kraushaar, 82, died at 4:14 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2006, at Greenwood Manor Nursing Home in Jerseyville, where she had been a resident for the past 26 days. Born Jan. 30, 1924, in Litchfield, she was the oldest child of Archie and Nora (Kane) Vinyard. Her mother died when she was 10 years old, and she assumed the responsibility of assisting in the care of her siblings at an early age. Her family was her life, as she had a great love for people, always extending a helping hand to any who were in need, and was a loyal friend to all. She began working at Greenwood Manor Nursing Home in Jerseyville on their first day of operation and retired as the supervisor of housekeeping after 25 years of dedicated and loyal service. She married Sherman Kraushaar on Jan. 12, 1946, just two weeks shy of her 22nd birthday, in Jerseyville. They shared 60 years together.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Shirley Davidsmeyer of Carrollton and Connie and Joe Pruitt of Godfrey; a son, Sherman Kraushaar of Jerseyville; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Kinder, and her family, of Golden Eagle; nine grandchildren, Dan Mager of Columbia, Kim Davis of Jerseyville, Barry Hartmann of Montgomery, Ala., Dawn Gibbs of East Alton, Ryan Kraushaar of Jerseyville, Penny Holtgraewe of Columbia, Mo., Tammy Hudanick of Alton, Jeffrey Pruitt of O'Fallon, Mo., and Tim Pruitt of Alton; 11 great-grandchildren, Brittany and Aaron Mager, Michelle Cordes, Marcus Groppel, Heather, Beth and Ricky Gibbs, Carmen and Drew Holtgraewe and Brian and Loren Pruitt; and four brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Elva Vinyard of Independence, Mo., Thomas and Loretta Vinyard of Carrollton, Earl Vinyard of White Hall and Mike and Ann Vinyard of Moreland, Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents; a 2-year-old son, Lloyd Howdeshell; a daughter, Kay Pruitt, on June 20, 2006; a brother, Leonard Vinyard; and a sister, Melba Isringhausen.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Randy Cartwright will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be given to the First Assembly of God in Jerseyville, where she was a member, or to the activity department at Greenwood Manor Nursing Home.

Mrs. Ann (Taylor) Burnett

Ann (Taylor) Burnett, born 1904, Chesterfield, Macoupin County, Illinois, died 10-1984, buried Oak Grove Cemetery. Ann Burnett, 80, of Alton, died at Jerseyville care center. Born in Chesterfield, a daughter of the late Alex & Mary (Marshall) Taylor. She married Bill Burnett, who preceded her in death in Aug. 1967.

Surviving are 4 daughters, Clara Belle Woods of Godfery, Mildred Kraushaar of Jerseyville and Georgia Abbott and Hazel Abbott, both of Kane; 3 sons, William Adams of Jerseyville, Harry "Bud" Adams of Arizona and Bobby Adams of Batchtown; 20 grandchildren and 27 g-grandchildren. Visitation and services were held at Jacoby Brothers funeral home in Jerseyville. Rev James Pepper officiated and burial was in Oak Grove.

Bill D. Adams

Bill D. Adams, born 06-05-1927, Illinois, died 18-05-1985, buried 21-05-1985, Oak Grove Cemetery. Bill D. Adams, 58, of Jerseyville, died May 18 at his residence. He was born May 6, 1927, in Medora to the late Willis Adams and Ann Taylor. He was a laborer.

Survivors include brothers Bob of Brussels and Bud of Phoenix; and sisters Clarabell Woods of Alton, Mildred Kraushaar of Jerseyville and Georgia Abbott and Hazel Abbott, both of Kane.

Visitation was May 20 at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. The funeral was May 21 at the funeral home with th Rev. Louis Kappler officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. There is no memorial.

Willis E. Adams

Willis E. Adams, died 12-07-1983, buried 00-07-1983, Oak Grove Cemetery. Willis "Junior" E. Adams, 54, of 606 Wabash, died at 12:10 a.m. Tuesday at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was a laborer, born in Medora, son Mahala Ann (Taylor) Adams Burnett of Alton and the late Willis Adams.

Surviving are his mother; three brothers, Bill o Jerseyville, Harry "Bud" of Phoenix, AZ., and Robert of Brussels; four sisters, Clara Bell Woods of Godfrey, Georgia and Hazel Abbott, both of Kane and Mildred Kraushaar of Jerseyville.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Thursday until service time at 1:30 p.m. at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville with the Rev. Louis Kappler officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Leanne Nichole Kraushaar

Leanne Nichole Kraushaar, 6-year-old daughter of Traci (Bregenzer) Kraushaar of Jerseyville and Dennis R. Kraushaar of Arizona, died at 2:25 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Cardinal Glennon Hospital for Children. She was born May 4, 1996, in Jerseyville and was a student at Grafton Grade School.

In addition to her parents, surviving are a sister, Stephanie St. Clair of Jerseyville; two brothers, Jeffrey St. Clair of Jerseyville and Brian Kraushaar of Arizona; grandparents, Larry and Sandy Bregenzer of Alton and Ron and Ethel Kraushaar of Jerseyville; and great-grandmother, Ruby Wieneke of Bethalto. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Targhetta Funeral Home in Brighton, where the Rev. Ray Robinson will officiate at services at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will follow at Brighton Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the family.

Marvin Miller

Died 02-12-1977. Services for Marvin Miller, 79, of Fieldon were held this afternoon, December 5, at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Dorcie Hill. Burial was in Fieldon cemetery. He died at 5:10 pm on December 2 a Jersey Community Hospital. A machinist in ammunition production, he was born may 14, 1898 in Missouri, a son of William and Emma Bunch Miller.

His survivors are his wife, the former Ruea Evans; four Sons, Earsie L. Miller of Fieldon, Dallas D., Carl D., and Ira W. Miller, all of Jerseyville; three daughters; Mrs. Floyd (Marie) McIntire, Grafton, Mrs. Leroy (Irene) Wells, Bloomington and Mrs. Steve (Margaret) Evancho, Jerseyville, 59 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren. One brother, Clark Miller, Jerseyville and a sister, Lula Short of St. Louis. Two sons, Leo and Loya, preceded him in death. The family designates the heart fund as . . . rest of obit missing.

Kelsey Ann Pace

Kelsey Ann Pace died at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2002. God came down from heaven in search of another angel. I can't imagine a more precious choice than my daughter. She will be missed by all. She was born nine years ago on Aug. 29, 1993, at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur, Mo. She was enrolled at Mrs. Stacy Beauchamps' fourth-grade class at West Elementary in Jerseyville. A member of the Otterville Southern Baptist Church, she was an inspiration to everyone and accomplished whatever tasks that awaited her. She and her family recently returned home from a trip to Disney World in Orlando, Fla., which was sponsored by the wonderful folks at the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

She is survived by her mother, Peggy (Towell) Pace of Jerseyville; her father and stepmother, David and Sheryl Pace of Otterville; two sisters Cassandra Pace of Grafton and her twin sister, Kourtney Pace of Jerseyville; her grandparents, Albert and Charlene Pace of Otterville and Charles and Helen Towell of Grafton; and many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home (the Jacoby Chapel) in Jerseyville. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Otterville Southern Baptist Church. The Rev. Steve Helfrich will officiate. Burial will be at Noble Cemetery in Otterville. Memorials may be given to the Casey and Kourtney Pace Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Robert V. Ray

Robert V. Ray, 73, died at 8:17 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis. Born Jan. 18, 1928, in Jersey County, he was a son of the late Floyd and Anna (Shanks) Ray. A carpenter at Alton Carpenters Local 377, a member of the Local for 37 years, he retired in 1983. He married the former Gloria E. Wallendorf on Dec. 24, 1948, in Jerseyville, and she survives.

Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Leon Stone Jr. of Alton; two sons and their spouses, Robert L. and Lynda Ray of Jerseyville and Richard and Joan Ray of Fieldon; seven grandchildren, Kristy Ray of Carlinville, Brian Ray of Jerseyville, Michael, Jason, and David Ray of Fieldon, Jacob and Jessica Stone of Alton; a great-granddaughter, Macy Wellhausen of Carlinville; and two sisters, Ethyle Kraushaar of Godfrey and Pearl Santacruz of Alton. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Chester, Aurther (Buck) and George Ray; two sisters, Hester (Ray) Gabbett and infant Letha.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or St. Louis University Hospital Auxiliary Tribute Fund.

Mrs. Ethel M. McGowen

Ethel M. McGowen, 82, died at 5:05 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville. She was born Nov. 28, 1919, in Jersey County to Roy and Delia Ione (Gettings) Boomer. She married William Henry Shults Oct. 10, 1935, in Jerseyville. He died in November 1974. She married Walter E. McGowen Oct. 20, 1978, in Jerseyville. He survives. A homemaker, she was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Jerseyville.

In addition to her husband, surviving are a daughter and her husband, Pat and Jim Rench of Jerseyville; three stepsons and their wives, Gene and Becky McGowen of Brighton, Mike McGowen and Tim and Tonya McGowen, all of Jerseyville; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and four sisters and their husbands, Violet and Wilbert Fraley, Inez and Joe French, Naomi and Charles Webster, all of Jerseyville, and Eva McIntire of Rosewood Heights. Besides her parents and first husband, preceding her in death was a daughter, Shirley Schnieder.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Wilbur Cain will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to Charity Christian Church Building Fund, Alzheimer's Disease Research or Peace United Church of Christ.

Roy Boomer

Roy Boomer, born 10-24-1893, Jersey County, Illinois, died 12-15-1972, buried Oak Grove Cemetery. Roy Boomer, 79, a retired farmer of Jerseyville, died Dec. 15 at the Calhoun Convalescent Care Home in Calhoun county. Funeral rites were held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral home in Jerseyville. Rev Harry Frazer officiated and burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. A WWI veteran, he was bon Oct. 24, 1893 in Jersey County a son of Daniel & Hannah Ann (Frazer) Boomer.

He is survived by 5 daughters, Mrs. William (Ethel) Shults, Mrs. Joe (Inez) French and Mrs. Charles (Naomi) Webster, Jerseyville, Mrs. Edward (Violet) Phipps of Kane and Mrs. Charles (Eva) McIntyre of East Alton; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 4 sister, Mrs Inez Frazer and Mrs. Eva Rhoads of Jerseyville, Mrs. Mary Rice and Mrs Lottie Calender, both of Alton. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and 3 brothers.

Visitation was held at Jacoby Brothers funeral home in Jerseyville and Worthey Post American Legion services were held at the cemetery.

Paul Emanuel Vail Sr.

Paul Emanuel Vail Sr., 65, died at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at John Cochran Veterans Hospital in St. Louis. Born April 18, 1939, in Alton, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Eva A. (Bedwell) Vail. He married the former Josephine Scott on Aug. 26, 1967, in Jerseyville. She survives.

He grew up in Alton and in 1961, at the age of 22, began a 27-year career with the U.S. Army. During the course of those years, he served in many locations, taking his family whenever he could to various parts of Germany and to Fort Leonard Wood, as well as other parts of the United States. He also served during the Vietnam War, where he earned the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged in 1987, with the rank of staff sergeant.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Josephine "Snooks" and Mark Westfall of Jerseyville; a son, Paul E. Vail Jr. of Jerseyville; three grandchildren, Matthew, Alexandra and Zachary Westfall; two brothers, James A. Vail of Jerseyville and Charles Vail of Bethalto; and a sister, Eva Lee of Jacksonville, Ill. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Nolan and Robert Vail, and a sister, Rosella Wallace.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Gordon Dean Cox will officiate. He will be carried to his gravesite at Grimes-Neeley Cemetery in Jerseyville by the honor guard from Fort Leonard Wood, and the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 will conduct rites. Memorials may be given to the New Life Tabernacle Church in Delhi, where he was a member.

Mrs. Marjorie Carol McBride

The funeral of Marjorie Carol McBride, 56, of 102 Sheridan, Jerseyville will be conducted at 2 p.m. on 15 Aug. at Jacoby Brothers funeral home by the Rev. Norman Eddy. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery. She died at 5:12 a.m. on 13 Aug. at Chesterfield after an extended illness. She was born in Peoria on 13 Dec. 1921, a daughter of Charles W. and Leta Hamm Hayes and had been a seamstress in dress manufacturing. She served in the army from 16 Mar. 1944 to 15 Aug. 1945.

She is survived by a son, Bernard McBride of Chesterfield; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Kraushaar of Jerseyville and Mrs. Kay Kimble of West Union, Ohio; 11 grandchildren. Her parents and a sister preceded her in death. Visitation from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Published, 14 Aug. 1978.

Paul Feyerabend

Paul Feyerabend, 71, of Chicago and native of Jersey County, died at a Chicago hospital after an extended period of illness. Funeral services were held at the Church of the Little Flower in Chicago and burial was in the church cemetery. He was the son of the late Henry & Mary (Elfgen) Feyerabend and was born in Jersey County August 4, 1896. He would have been 72 on his next birthday. Mr. Feyerabend has been a resident of Chicago for several years and was a retired auto mobile salesman.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Feyerabend, 1 daughter, Mrs. S. Mary Rita Feyerabend of Chicago; 5 brothers, John and Carl Feyerabend of Jerseyville, Leslie and Louis Feyerabend of St. Louis and William Feyerabend of Big Village, IN; and 3 sisters, Mrs. John Wock of Jerseyville, Mrs. Francis Maloney of Edwardsville and Mrs. Alfred Habing of St. Louis. Among area relatives attending services were: John and Carl Feyerabend and Mrs. Wock of Jerseyville, and Mr. & Mrs. Habing and Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Feyerabend of St. Louis.

William C. Pitt

Services for William C. Pitt, 80, of 206 Sherman St., Jerseyville were conducted Wednesday afternoon from Gubser Funeral Home with the Rev. Everett Chambers officiating. Burial was in Valhalla Memorial Park, Godfrey.

He died at 11 am on 11 July, 1977 at the White Hall hospital. He was born in Mt. Olive, 27 November 1896, a son of Edward and Lucy Black Pitt.

His survivors are his widow, Mrs. Anna Bates Pitt; one son, Edward Pitt of Greenfield and two daughters, Mrs. Marvell Martin of Winchester and Mrs. Orville (Wilma) Shenkel of East Alton; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren.

Mrs. Clara Elizabeth Sievers

Clara Elizabeth Sievers, 95, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at Calhoun Care Center in Hardin. She was born Oct. 25, 1912, in Brussels, the daughter of Newton and Catherine Fuhler Norris. She married Joseph Sievers Sr. on May 8, 1934, at St. Mary's Church in Alton. He died Feb. 12, 2006.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Joe Jr. and Violet (Klocke) Sievers of Hardin; four daughters and their spouses, Rosemary and Leroy Wieneke of Brussels, Rita Kraushaar of Michael, Shirley and James Eilerman of Hardin, and Judith and Kenny Bick of Batchtown; 15 grandchildren, Robert Wieneke, Terry Wieneke, Karen Sievers Godar, Sheryl Sievers Paquin, Peggy Sievers Eberlin, Nancy Kraushaar Seiferman, Sue Eilerman Nelson, Tim Eilerman, Vicky Eilerman Long, Cindy Eilerman Baalman, Ann Eilerman Gilman, Beth Eilerman Baalman, Jan Eilerman, Jennifer Bick Nolte, and Derrick Bick; 22 great-grandchildren, Kyle and Amy Godar, Brad Eberlin, Sean, Emily, Andy and Cory Nelson, Michael, Matthew, and Mindi Eilerman, Dan, Ryan and Luke Long, Maddie, Grace and Brady Baalman, Ellie and Blake Nolte, Cole and Kaela Bick, and Sam and Audrey Gilman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Eleanor; a grandson, Randy Sievers; three brothers, Joe Norris and Carl Norris, formerly of Indiana and Bill Norris, formerly of Alton; three sisters, Anna Wolff, Marie Laugaman and Emma Delhanty, formerly of Alton; two halfbrothers, Garrett and Henry Hindricks, formerly of Brussels; and a son-in-law, Richard Kraushaar. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Meppen. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 10, at Hanks-Gress Funeral Home in Hardin. Father Bill Kessler will officiate at services at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Meppen. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Joseph's Cemetery or a charity of one's choice.

Mrs. Rosemary A. Wieneke

Rosemary A. Wieneke, 72, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Christian Hospital N.E. in St. Louis. She was born Nov. 6, 1935, in Carrollton, the daughter of Joseph and Clara (Norris) Sievers Sr. She married Leroy C. Wieneke Aug. 20, 1960, in Meppen and he survives. She was a homemaker and a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church and Altar Society in Brussels.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Cindy Wieneke of Brussels and Terry and Elaine Wieneke of Golden Eagle; a brother, Joe Sievers Jr. of Hardin; and three sisters, Rita Kraushaar of Michael, Shirley Eilerman and Judy Bick, both of Batchtown. Her parents preceded her in death. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 16, at Hanks-Gress Funeral Home in Brussels, with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. A 10 a.m. Mass will be Saturday, May 17, at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Brussels with Fr. Bill Kessler officiating. Burial will be at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Brussels. Memorials may be made to the South Calhoun Ambulance Service in Brussels.

Everett C. Doten II

Doten, Everett C. II "Dody," born August 24, 1937, in Plymouth, Mass., passed away from Lewy Body Dementia, April 23, 2011, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyfton Orlin and Sarah Elizabeth Owens Doten. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lorraine "Raine" Doten; son, Dody and his wife, Wendy; son, John and his wife, Lisa; son, Chris; and granddaughter, Danielle, all of Tampa. He is also survived by his two brothers, Elmer Lawrence of Abington, Mass., and Clyfton Orlin of Plymouth; his uncle, George and his wife, Ramona Card Doten of Portland, Conn.; as well as a brother and sister-in-law; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Dody graduated from Plymouth High School in 1955, and then spent the summer playing the bass fiddle on Block Island, R.I., where he met his future wife. Dody then joined the U.S. Air Force as a radar operator. Upon leaving the Air Force, he furthered his education by attending Berkley Preparatory School in Boston, Mass., and Bedford Institute of Technology in New Bedford, Mass. Dody and Raine moved to Florida, where he went to work for GTE. He retired as a system engineer in 1997. Since retirement, as well as throughout his life, he has played the bass fiddle for several bands. He most recently participated with the Swing Sound Orchestra, The Sun City Center Big Band, The Ten O' Clock Band and the Blue Notes. A celebration of life service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2011, at Bethel Assemblies of God, 1510 W. Hillsborough Ave., Tampa. Mrs. Juanita E. Prough

Juanita Evelyn Prough, 88, of Carrollton, died at 8:55 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. Born in Roodhouse on Jan. 8, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Claude and Nellie Mae (Robinson) Barber. She married Thomas H. Prough on July 19, 1947, in Roodhouse and he preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1991. Surviving are her three children, Janet (Vic) Kraushaar of Jerseyville, Tom (Linda) Prough and Mary Ann (Bob) Richey of Carrollton; five grandchildren, Nancy (Carl) Clifford, Vickie (Ty) Johnson, Christopher Steinacher, Benjamin Thomas Prough, Andrew Prough; seven great-grandchildren, David, Jeremy, Dylan, Josie, Klayton, Tyler and Carson; and a great-grandchild, Brody.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were a grandchild, Ryan Prough; two sisters, Alice Buster, Niada Neff; and a brother, Charles Barber. Juanita graduated from Roodhouse High School. She was a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed talking to her friends on the phone, watching TV, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Services will be held at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in the Carrollton City Cemetery.
